Bose owners with AVIC (Pref NEX) pioneer headunits - Share me your audio settings

Hey guys,

I just had the AVIC-5000NEX unit installed in my car... boy is it a lot to learn. Anyways, when it come to all the audio tuning and what not i'm a amateur.

Granted i know the bose system will be suggested to do away with. But for now i only could afford swapping the headunit. It is running the harness with the RCA outputs and what not.

So anyways i want to know what configuration most of you with poineer AVIC headunits are running. I mean everything that you guys did to really get the best out of the factory bose speakers. Screen shots of your setting would be much appreciated too. I'm really looking for a balanced and crisp sound setting. I can tell the radio is improving it's sound quality but i just want to dial it in properly.

Also, it has the built in cross-over... i can't make heads or tails with that. Any opinions on that would be great as well.

My settings vary from what I know I am going to listen to (I mostly highway drive my Z).

Love me some electronica, trance, dub and house music. Toss in the occasional death, grind and heavy metal in there for a total of 3 different custom EQ settings.

Have a AVIC-Z140BH and bose system

As stated above it varies depending on taste as well as music your listening too. Keep in mind the format and compression of your music effects the sound as well.

Most of my music is on iPod and I have put it through audacity to up the kbps. Although this doesn't always work, it can increase the sharpness and quality of a lower grade MP3 to a good MP4 or ACC/Flac. Course, apple doesn't have many options when it comes to encoding, but it's not that bad.

If you have MP3's at 96 kbps compaired to 256kbps you are going to notice it.

Not that it really matters in a sports car....

Send me some screen shots, i may cycle though and see how it sounds.

I've been playing with the crossover on mine to maybe get a little thump out of the factory sub.... it's off and on depending on the music. I mainly just stream music from slacker or pandora.

I spent an hour messing with my cross over. I mainly tried getting it set up where my fronts just handle highs and mids. But it's difficult to get the rear sounding right. Trying to get it setup for just mids and lows. I'm still playing with it. Right now i'm researching a way to splice into the sub and i can have it independently controlled. That might prove difficult. I'm at the point where i may do like everyone else and just pull all the speakers and go full component setup.
