Sound not up to snuff yet

I had all my stereo stuff installed in the Z (and my wife's GTI). I am not happy with the sound yet. It does not seem to blend right in either car, especially the singers voices. They have Alpine 927hd HUs, alpine type r 6.75 components. The Z has a JL audio 2 ch amp 75x2 at 4 ohm and a 600 x 1 powering 2 10" W3s in a stealthbox. The GTI has a 5 ch JL amp ading 2 6.75" coaxials in the back doors and a single 10 in the hatch. I really loved my old 505 HU. This is a really complicated stereo with the parametric Eq and time correction. Looking for solutions. In the Z I was considering adding rear speakers somehow and adding the Alpine PXA-H800 processor and remote then having it professionally tuned. I wod do the same wiyh the VW with processor and tuning. It makes me miss my truck. I never realized how nice the stereo was! These are our dream cars except the stereos aren't working out so far. Fixable? Opinions?

Thanks!

Fixable?? absolutely. You need to work on your Time align settings first, as they are the easiest to get "initially". Make a map of your speaker locations, and measure from the center of your headrest to each speaker. set your timing for each speaker to match. Now set your xover points. 63hz is a good starting point for high and low. finally go to your eq and tweak. when finished with eq, go back and tweak timing to center imaging.

Its not an easy process, but its well worth the time to get that sweet sound. Don't believe for a second that he car has much to do with it....You most certainly CAN achieve world class sound in the Z, or any other car. Believe it. I do!

Thanks for the reply. It gives me hope this will meet my expectations. I will try setting it up. If it still doesn't work for me I will have a shop do it. I have a sensitve ear but I suck at setting the stuff up! I like that sound processor too. I may have them add it.

a processor will definitely make things that much easier for you...but not necessary.

I did a lot of tweaking on the system per your instructions. It did help a lot. Will see what the shop can do. Holding off on the other equip until then. Thanks.

Sorry to be late to the party but make sure your gains are adjusted properly as well as filters adjusted properly

Thanks. We are going to add the adjustment knobs to the JL amps due to they are hard to get to on the amps itself. I am going to the shop on the 21st. Too busy during the day until then. I spoke to the guy that runs the shop and he said he has no experience with the Alpine sound processor but did have a lot of experience with the Rockford Fosgate 3sixty.3 and ARC Audio PS8. All this stuff is far beyond my expertise level. Just the amount it has improved from the adjustments I made last night has really made a dramatic change. I have hope it will meet my wants and needs eventually. I still have one rattle/buzz to fix too. lol (may be where the sub mounts to)

Thanks for all the advice.
