So speed has nothing to do with the power the alt are putting out.

Electrical Load Detector monitors the amount of current that’s being drained from the battery from devices such as headlights, HVAC, power amps etc.
Any high powered auto amp is going strain an under powered alternator.
A second battery is never a good idea as it's an added strain on the alternator to charge two batteries AND supply power for the car. The ONLY time a second battery is useful is if the audio system is to be used with the car off.

At idle, when the alternator is turning slowly, output is reduced and may not be able to keep up with the demands on the charging system. Consequently, the battery has to make up the difference. The reserve capacity of the battery is like a bank account. It stores amps so that the electrical system can withdraw amps when electrical loads exceed the charging system output. Cranking the engine pulls amps out of the battery. So do high electrical loads when the engine is idling. The amps are put back into the battery when the vehicle is driven and the charging system is able to generate more amps than what are needed to keep things running.

Indeed. An alternator that is rated at 80 amps most likely puts put about 2/3 of that at idle. Alot of people fail to realize the importance of an alternator in car audio applications, Constant strain is put on the alternator to replace the power drained from the battery.

^ But your ELD still comes into effect with that. It detects how many amps are being requested by your electrical system and controls your alt accordingly. Plus some stock batteries can be the weakest link in the system as they can not hold the power like some stronger batteries can. All and all he is not going to have to worry about doing any upgrades nor should most people that own a z. Unless your going to start with a 1000 watts amp and run that at full tilt "which should never be done" and have another amp as well.

Not trus the second battery takes the strain off the main battery and the main charging system. It allows the second battery to take care of the amp and the power it demands. Almost any of those links will recommend a second batter instead of a cap. And so would I.

As I stated earlier, you should consult with an electrical engineer. (I could help you)
You are giving false and silly information. I’ll repeat it again, “A second battery is never a good idea as it's an added strain on the alternator to charge two batteries AND supply power for the car. The ONLY time a second battery is useful is if the audio system is to be used with the car OFF.”
“Any high powered auto amp is going strain a Low Amp/Output Alternator.

What exactly is your background & education? Any College/University Engineering Degree? In what?

you're kind of a jerk huh? Big A's kinda given a lot of people sound advice and volunteered his time to answer myriad audio questions on this forum. I am of the opinion that if he believes something is so, based on his real world knowledge, you should state your objection and then leave it alone. Thus far you've questioned his education and more recently his intelligence. Leave it alone already!
