Hi tref,
Nissan didn't include the .avi/divx/xvid license in the Navi unit, so it won't playback the file. No hope of an upgrade because nothing is broken.

Navi unit have divx registration code to register divx player. When i do that, my navi said " your device is now registered and prepared to play divx" . How is that possible, if they dont have a licence?

thanks

Hey Tref,
My take on it is the Disc decoder unit is a separate unit from the USB device. Many car stereo use the set top box DVD controller for the DVD/Disc drive, and use another processor for Navi/USB everything else. Just because Navi says "Divx can play" does not mean USB is included. And, just to make more complicated, there are many different types of files with .avi extension that won't play in a DRM device or that are .avi wrapper with contents that aren't compatible with divx decoder in the radio.

Hey.

Hmm. What about this safety precaution, the car must be stopped and parking brake on, than you can play DVD. I am asking this because, my three years old son would like to watch cartoons in the long run. I can still connect portable dvd player to navi screen.

There are a few setting that have to be made to play a divx from usb.
1. The converter you use needs to have options for the format, size, etc. I use x video converter.
2. Choose the DIVX format
3. Set size to 480w x 360h
4. Total vid size can not exceed 2gb, per video. Reduce the data rate until the vid size is below 2gb.
Once the settings are made, convert your movie to usb.

This is how mine is set up and it works. I have 64gb usb that is full of movies and music videos.

As far as playing while driving the ebrake and speed sensor needs to be bypassed. Its easier to just by the bypass kit from the CarKit Company.

Sent while driving!
