Audio Install

4 Attachment(s)
I just had my full audio system installed. I started to tackle my speakers and such, but decided to go to the audio shop to do it. In the end, they supposed offered me a good deal...sooo. It's pretty generic, nothing fancy with custom boxes...(would've cost too much to ship to HI and a pain when I need to ship the car back). Anyway, I have the following installed:

HU: Kenwood DNX 7140

Amp: Alpine PDX 5

Front Speakers: JL C5-650

Rear Speakers: JL C2-350x

Sub: JL Audio CP108LG-W3v3

I know that rears aren't needed, however, the manager was giving it to me for an extra $60 which included wires/install. So, I decided to take it...can't hurt for that price.

Youtube link demo of video quality...welll attempt to.

Again, nothing fancy...and that little sub is THUMPING! I laughed when the store recommended it, but I stopped when I heard it after it was install

Car Audio Specialist. I think they have a place by you as well as in town. Just remember, they don't do custom boxes or anything like that.

So far, I love it. I'm no audio enthuaist, but these speakers amazing! Not sure if this the HU or speakers, but when playing music, I can hear certain instruments clearly and distinct.

No, the OEM trim piece fitted just fine. I believe that's more for the Bose because the faceplate is integrated with the trim.

Do you know how they did the tweeter mounting? These look like nice speakers but I can't picture how you'd mount the tweeters without cutting up the factory tweeter overlays..

I'm not sure..I know they didn't use the oem overlay because I have both OEM ones intact.

I am thinking of getting that same sub. How to you like it so far? Thanks!

Matt 10-29-2009 11:10 AM

Where's the amp mounted? Can't tell from that pic.

The sub is nice for me! (I'm not an audiophile). I thought it will provide a little bass, more it does pump out more than I thought it would. It thumps to shake the rear hatch, but nothing "shattering"

The amp is mounted under the driver's seat.

indep 11-01-2009 12:16 PM

do you know the demensions of your sub box?

alexpila 11-02-2009 02:47 AM

Nice u got a good sound system but i personally like a fancier install i always have it can be simple but must look good like it was meant to be there. I think a Zenclosure along the strut bar to cover the back and covered in that leathery vinyl would look awesome.. I used to have a C30 T5 this was my setup... the enclosure and custom floor plus t5 cut out all cost me R3000 so about US$300 (at that stage now its about $300)

not sure my plans bout doing a nice install of my sub in this car... any idea's?

abakja1 11-02-2009 03:30 AM

I think that it's better to look stealth, so that people don't mess w ur car. Especially the tweekers. I'm hoping to get a hidden sub box in the spare wheel well.
