Bose sub

My base didnt come with the sub, but the connector is present. Will the sub work if I just plug one into the harness?

It should. If you have Bose radio, you can buy a Bose sub cheap in the Sale/Classified section, or on EBay.

The base didnt come with anything bose, its the basic head unit and speakers. I was wondering why the harness is there and see if it has output, perhaps use a meter to check?

My best guess is that it will not work since your base won't have the bose amp...

Although, if all the wiring is in place perhaps you can purchase the bose equipment off another member and hook it all up?

Hey LB check for voltages at that point. But, if there is no +12V to main amp (amp that's in the Bose Sub), no audio signal or amp_ON signal from the head unit, that's a lot of extra effort for such a small return. For all that trouble you could put a aftermarket sub, head unit and amp.

Indeed. If its dead in won't be installing a sub.

Sometimes it's cheaper for the manufacturer to stock/install the same harness even if parts of it are not used in some models.

A meter will do the trick. If you don't have power for the sub amp or nothing on the signal wires, it won't work. Since you don't have a Bose stereo, I'm betting that you are SOL. :(

Ninja edit: BTW, the FSM will tell you what you need to know. Look up the wiring for the Bose sub and see if those wires are active in the base system.

Let us know what you find, I am in the same position...

So has anyone just taken a bose subwoofer out of a touring model and plugged it into the harness in a base model to try it out? Since the base model head unit has a fader for rear speakers that do not exist, and also has the spare tire subwoofer wiring harness, maybe the rear speaker fader output would go to the subwoofer? I am also assuming that it is a powered subwoofer with the amp built in?

I don't think it will work. That being said even if it did it wouldn't be anything impressive to put the effort into adding it.

You are incorrect, the amp for the Bose speakers is in the area behind the rear brace bar. Also, I agree with BAF, the Bose stuff is crap. I just swapped over to a proper sub / amp setup because the Bose just doesn't move any air.
