smartphone controlled headunit

hey guys,
I'm looking for a head unit that is basically controlled by my samsung s5.
i don't need navigation , id like to use google maps from my phone but be able to see it on the screen of the headunit
i also just need bluetooth so i can stream my spottily app for music.
being able to view videos on the head unit from my phone is a plus .

i think mirror link is what i need but i can't get a straight answer as to what mirror link is

any help is appreciated.

Mirror link does as it says, it mirrors the phone screen onto the radio. Some phones support it, and even fewer head units. It's a protocol pioneered by Nokia, and is more popular in Europe.

I know a lot of people hate Pioneer but I love mine. There are the AppRadio head units and AVIC units which are capable of this.

I have an older AVIC-X950BH (to me, it looks factory and is one of the better looking head units) which you can hook up to your ROOTED Android phone using ARUnchained. Research up on it, it's pretty cool.

dont you need to physically hook up your android (or iphone) to the HU? that is clumsy imho especially in the winter time when we have gloves on and a long coat.

Yes you do the amount of data pulled through to display everything and control your phone would drain your battery like crazy if it was wireless. If your looking for just audio streaming than yes it can be wireless however your going too loose audio quality.

I'm doing it mostly for my Google maps . Any HU for years most part has Bluetooth which translates to wireless audio streaming
