So how about this Pioneer d8604 and run the front component speakers on 2 channels then bridge the other 2 to power the pioneer shallow mount sub that is 200 rms?

That's what I run in my Z. Works great and fits under the seat; although I moved it to the space between the package shelf and spare.

I have no first hand knowledge on this amp, but it strikes me as odd that theyy have the freq response listed as starting at 40hz ???? misprint?? Wheres the sub-bass
Edit......Nevermind, pioneer has it listed at 10hz on their site.

OP I'd advise if our going to amp your polk db's that you upgrade to a higher end set or speakers. The polk db's are good but for amping power you will want something a little beefier.

Do yall think the alpine spr- 60c is a better choice? What would be needed to make these fit? A spacer?

Sense they are in the same price bracket and compared to about the same as the db's I would say no. You would be better off with the alpine type r's or the polk dxi or mm's.

So I began the install tonight. I have some questions that I need help with.

1) the fitting on the driver side door is being a bitch connecting the harness where I drilled the holes to get the speaker wire through the door. Any suggestions?

2) on my pioneer 4600bt I have the option to hook the rca's to either a set of front speaker, rear speaker, or sub out outputs. Which would i use if i am using 2 channels on the amp for door speakers and the third channel to power a sub?

RonRizz 03-15-2014 04:39 AM

Not sure about your harness issue other than to say take a break, and go back after it fresh. As far as your rca connections, you can use either front or rear for components, makes no difference.. Run them to channel A inputs on your amp. Use sub outs for Subwoofer, run them to channel B inputs on amp.

Good advice. I called it a night around 2 this morning and hit it again a few hours ago. the driver side connector was a huge pain but the passenger side went a lot smoother.

Right now it's all pretty much wired up, I bought some plastic to make the tweeter bracket with so I am waiting on a buddy to bring his dremel over to cut it and it looks like i have to use the big ring bracket that came with my polk woofers but they didnt give me any screws so i have to pick some up later tonight.

Im running Alpine components, Alpine amp, Custom box in rear with two JBL's and two 8" subs.

Go with the components first with a good amp. Then go from there

Big J 03-15-2014 08:18 PM

I already bought a sub, components, and amp.

Got everything hooked up, hooked up the battery and popped both fuses on the amp.

RonRizz 03-16-2014 05:27 AM

oh no. go over that wiring again. hope nothing was damaged.

Big J 03-16-2014 12:16 PM

Well the amp fuses popped as soon as I connected the battery. I have a feeling it is my ground so I'm going to relocate it.

Big J 03-16-2014 08:02 PM

So what do you guys think? I have now blown the 2 30amp fuses on the amp 2 times now. Both pop immediately when I hook the battery back up. I have a 80 amp fuse on the main power line(what is recommended by pioneer). I have checked the ground and power wire over and over, and it is all intact. I put the amp behind the driver seat so there is nothing for the amp to touch and ground itself with(it is sitting on carpet. I am starting to think there is an issue with the amp. What else is there to check for?
