I had the service engine soon light on after installing my new head unit. Apparently it is an error code generated by too many battery disconnects. I bought a OBD-2 reader/eraser at autozone, it gave me the code and erased it. You can borrow one from them too if you dont want to buy one. I bought the Actron model for $50, I see newegg sells similar ones for around $25+, I'd recommend getting one for future use, saves time and trips to the dealer.

I'm going to go ahead and leave this here because who knows, someone might be able to figure it out:
About a year ago I installed a Pioneer HU, alpine amp (under passenger seat), sub (in hatch) and replaced the kickers/tweeters in both doors. After the install, my wireless key fob doesn't work sometimes (but not all). No rhyme or reason to when it works but it comes and goes. No one can figure out the problem. I'm resigned to the fact that I may never be able to fix it but that just seems awful for such a dumb problem. |

Nn04b
Hi everyone,
I am using the Scosche NN04b harness to wire up an Alpine 940bt and an ASWC. Looking at the Scosche harness the pins do not match up with what the factory harness states. The NN04b has pin 16 as (a red wire) 12v switch when the factory harness says pin 7 is the +12v switch and pin 16 is for the radio, which I will use for the ASWC. Will it hurt anything if I move the red wire on the NN04b from pin 16 to pin 7? Also is it ok to add wires to pins 8 and 9 so the dimmer will work? Factory Harness http://www.the370z.com/attachments/a...s-non-bose.png NVM I had a slow moment. I did not realize I had the NN04B upside down when counting the pins. pin 19 should be on my right. http://www.the370z.com/audio-video/3...confusion.html |
got a new one I think. installed HU amp and subs and now my car tells me there is no key detected. but if I put it in the slot it lets me start the car?
where is the receiver for keyless start system? |

I haven't fixed it yet. the only thing I can think of that I did not plug back in was the rear electrical connector in the center console? I zip tied it up by the power port cuz It looked like it was a blank plug kinda like the rear fog light is. I might go recheck that tomorrow. 6 hours of install today with all the wire routing and tearing apart the car. im done
|
I've put more than 20 hrs into the install and trying to figure out what the hell went wrong but this is one of the symptoms I've never been able to figure out.
Fun fact: the fob detection will come and go. Sometimes it will work, sometimes it won't and you'll have no idea why. Man if you figure this out, I will buy you a beer. |

To answer your question, the master control module for the wireless antenna is underneath the center console. |
at the rear of the center console? if so then problem solved I know I didn't plug that back in. I wasn't saying it was the fog light.. I was referencing the blank plug looking thing. I didn't see abox of any kind at the back on the center console but ill got look and ill repost.
|
No I think it's towards the front near the gearbox. Small flat square thing.
|
so tore apart my center console and plugged that "blank" back in. I check all my wiring again and the 2 big connectors right under the HU (big black ones wrapped in foam) were loose. not falling apart but they had about 1/8" of push-in left. Vwaa laa. key works with out putting back in the slot. coulda been that back plug or that loose connector either way im good to go and I fixed my air bag light just like the instructions said. BOO YA :happydance:

I wonder if I overlooked that plug. Could be a bad connection.
If you start getting intermittent problems, let me know please. |
My Z came with the jvc aftermarket touchscreen radio. It's a cool little add on but I noticed that none of the buttons on the left side of the steering wheel work. Cruise control is fine but everything else is useless. Also, everyone I call when I use the Bluetooth to make calls tells me it sounds horrible. Could it be due to the jvc? Thanks in advance
|
Yes and yes.
You need a steering wheel interface module like so: Pac SWI Jack Steering Wheel Control Interface for JVC Alpine Clarion Kenwood | eBay As for the BT quality, it may just be road noise. Where is your mic mounted? |
It's by the steering wheel.
|
Do you have an aftermarket exhaust on the car? I can no longer use bluetooth in the car because to quote a coworker, "it sounds like motherf*cking NASCAR jesus christ just call me back later"
If that's the problem, you're kinda boned. If it's not - try relocating the mic mount to the a pillar on the driver's side close to head-level. That's where mine is and it worked like a charm (before the exhaust/HFCs went on) |
So I can pull it out and it's attached to a wire long enough to extend to where you said? I really appreciate all of your help.
Btw can I have that part for the steering wheel installed at like best buy? |
Best buy usually won't touch aftermarket installs unless you buy the whole setup from them. You'll have to find a custom audio shop if you don't want to do it yourself.
I'm not sure how the JVC head unit works but I'd be surprised if the wire weren't already long enough to do it and just hidden away somewhere. |
Big thanks. Installed new speakers today and got the window problem. Followed the "Window Fix" instructions and everything was all better in 30 seconds!!!

The AC is on low and cold and the controls for it have no effect nor do they light up along with the dash lights. I checked the fuse in the lower, driver kick panel area and it's fine. After reading about the issue here, I pulled everything back out (PITA!) and checked the big white plug going to the AC box and it's plugged in all the way. It seems the problem others were having was that they forgot to plug theirs in but mine is plugged in all the way. I even pushed it in harder and it wouldn't go any farther in so I'm officially stumped. Is there something else I can check? Right now I'm leaving my battery disconnected overnight. |
Anyone please?
|
I had a few days rest from all this and came back to it refreshed. During this time, I had checked all the fuses and left the battery disconnected, hoping the car would heal itself once plugged back in after all this time.
Well, no, same problem with the fan blowing, no AC control and no lighting. So, I double checked the big white plug on the AC module again and it's in tight. Then it occured to me that I had removed the actual AC controls (the module with three circular knobs) to transplant them into the Metra dash kit and what do you know...I had forgotten to insert the little black plug in. Derr.... |

I was baffled with this same problem for my windows. The ol' search feature brought me here! Fixed my window issue on the first try! Thanks!
|
My dealer did some warranty work (head gaskets) window was not rolling up auto after i closed to door. Glad i read this before i took it back!
thanks. |
A huge "THANK YOU" for this thread! I had the window and airbag issue after my stereo install. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. Saved me a trip to the dealer and a few buck$ as well!

Some lights not coming up
I install a new HU and here are my problems I read the thread n try a few things but :(
1 AC thermostat control illumination not coming up 2 hazards button and Synchro Rev not illuminating 3 Dimmer Controls not working to adjust the illumination neither they get illuminated 4 steering wheel controls not illuminating 5 door panel light does not comes up 6 traction control not illuminating 7 after closing the door n locking it with the door button the car does not make the beeping sound (tried holding lock n unlock buttons simultaneously in the remote n no bueno :( I'm thinking that most of the illumination problem has to do with pin 8 (white) in the oem harness that needs to be grounded like 15 but not sure. I checked the fuses in the kick panel/under steering n in the battery n everything seem fine. I look at the fuse box behind the battery by removing the cover but did not inspect them cause from what I could read without moving the battery there nothing with illumination related. Is there a Fuse replacement problem if so where please? Or it gets solved grounding the 8 pin? Also I notice that when I switch the ignition button/ start button to Accesories the check engine gives me a code of 5 blinks. Anyone knows what is the car telling me? Is this related to the illumination problem? Help is appreciated thanks guys |

I've searched and tried every window reset method I could find on the forums... Tried to hold the button down then up for 15 seconds about 10 different times none of them worked. Help?? The windows still do the auto adjust thing when you open/close the doors, you just can't raise or lower the windows at all. Anyone had this happen? Any ideas what I should try to reset to get this to work??? |
Are you doing it one by one with all doors shut?
|
Yes! All doors shut, turn to ON, hold switch in down position for 15 sec, then up for 15 sec.. Tried both sides 5-6 times with different variations, none worked. Any ideas? Thanks big
Tried 10 seconds down then 10 up... Up then down, 5 seconds each way.. Nada. The windows go all the way up and down when I use the little emergency key in the door so I know the damn things work just fine. In other news the rest of my head unit install went perfectly and I even got the steering wheel controls to work pretty easily thanks to the other threads around here, so today was not a total fail. |
+1 for the write up, saved me a headache of going down to the dealership
|
Thanks for the help on the airbag light fix. I just had a new head unit & speakers installed and got the airbag light. The install shop checked all fuses and then scheduled me for next week to diagnose the issue. Quick search here and wham... no more airbag light. Thanks a million!!!
|
Worked for me too. Sweet. Thanks!! ;)
|
So, I've tried this fix about 600 times in 60 different ways over the last 6 months and haven't had any luck. The manual mode still works, but the automatic mode and the door close/window raise mode don't work. Also, it won't go up while the door is open, but it will go down.
This happened after I replaced the speakers and pulled the door panel to put in sound proofing. This is on the driver's side only and I'm about ready to go buy a replacement switch at $100, but am reaching out in hopes that somebody might have another suggestion to try. Thanks! |
So as an FYI - It was recommended to disconnect the battery during install. That will help avoid most of the issues. But it was noted that if you disconnect it to often that you will still get a SES light. That code is P0603. Should be able to be cleared with any code reader.
|
I have a question.. I installed an aftermarket stereo.. Works fine but the radio picks up some interference. My guess is because I did not ground it (couldn't find where to ground it).. Is this why? Where can I ground it?
|
Hey guys. 2010 Nismo with base radio. I'm switching out to a Pioneer HU, what is the white box/module that sits directly under the stock hu? It has to be unplugged (big plug) and comes out with the stock radio. I'm just wondering if it was to be reinstalled with the new unit still. Thanks
