Some Guidance Appreciated
2012 Nismo
This is my set up guys: INE W927HD KTP 445A Metra Harness Metra Anthena Metra Axxes (how difficult is it to get the wheel controls working) Metra Dash Kit (Read somewhere that is not needed? Is this true?) Something else needed? No speakers for now. Possibly later on. Thinking about the db6501 but not sure may be some alpine that won't need spacers if available. I just hate the idea of running cables right now (u guys tell me about gd speakers according my set up) Would the KTP amp hurt/damage the factory speakers or anything along the road due to overpower? Also do i need that microbypass? (What is this for?) Thanks for your time and help guys. |
My bad i wrote set up but is what I'm about to install. Thanks
|
I had the DB6501s in my last Z and they were great. One thing I appreciated was that the tweeters were not as harsh as some other speakers I've owned (but still good highs).
You're getting a heck if a nice HU. I'd get the micro bypass for sure; not to drive down the road watching movies, but just to have many of the basic functions available whenever you need them. |
Thanks man. Yeah Ive always run with Alpine. U cant go wrong. Im leaning towards the Polks but still considering the Alpine speakers if theres any that fit without spacers. Just ordered the bypass.
Should hold installing the amp until i get the speakers? |
I believe u had the head unit camera working together with rearview mirror right? Did u remeber where to tap to get it to work simultaneously in the HU? Or did somebody have a DIY? Thanks guys

Have you installed this setup yet? I'm looking into buying a new HU soon and am considering the Alpine INE-W927HD. I've been looking into the Kenwood DNX890HD as well but it sounds a bit buggy. Did you consider any alternatives?
|
I am doing the polk's DB6501 in my Z, I will let you know how it turns out. I am saving the rest of my money for mods.

As for the HU and it's fitment, you don't need the harness. The side mount cage rails will mount straight up to the DDIN units. I have test fit 3 diff HU's just recently as in 4 days ago. I tested an Alpine DDIN unit, and Kenwood Excelon and just finally settled on the Pioneer AVIC instead. All 3 fit with no issues. And many installer shops will tell you it doens't fit flush blah blah blah. BS! I found that they all looked great.
GLWI (Good Luck with the install) |
Dash kit is a preference if your anal about gaps on pioneers. Other than that you do not need one. Some think they are cleaner than the stock piece for some units as well.

I installed the HU and here are my problems I read the thread n try a few things but
1 AC thermostat control illumination not coming up 2 hazards button and Synchro Rev not illuminating 3 Dimmer Controls by the cluster bezel not working to adjust the illumination neither they get illuminated 4 steering wheel controls not illuminating 5 door panel light does not comes up (ignore this I found that is a damn reflector not a bulb in it lol) 6 traction control not illuminating 7 after closing the door n locking it with the door button the car does not make the beeping sound anymore (tried holding lock n unlock buttons simultaneously in the remote n no bueno I'm thinking that most of the illumination problem has to do with pin 8 (white) in the oem harness that needs to be grounded like 15 but not sure. I checked the fuses in the kick panel/under steering n in the battery n everything seem fine. I look at the fuse box behind the battery by removing the cover but did not inspect them cause from what I could read without moving the battery there nothing with illumination related. Is there a Fuse replacement problem if so where please? Or it gets solved grounding the 8 pin? Also I notice that when I switch the ignition button/ start button to Accesories the check engine gives me a code of 5 blinks. Anyone knows what is the car telling me? Is this related to the illumination problem? Help is appreciated thanks guys |
I installed my Alpine head unit this weekend and the only problem I encountered was a bad Metra wire harness from Amazon. I had to reconfigure some pins to make it work. Not sure what's going on with yours but I'd get an OBDII reader to find out what the warning is for. I'd say it's a fuse but something might be shorted.

So guys I still have the problem of the car not beeping when i close it using the door button in the handle. I try several times the press n release in the remote but it didnt work. What else should i try?
Anyway as far as my sound system i end up installing the SPR 60C these been amped by a KTP 445 and controlled by an INE W927. Well, now i want to add bass. I ordered a Focal IBUS 20 thinking that it would fit under my passengers and it doesnt. Since in order install this unit I would end up sacrifying some hatch area and I wanted to keep it stealth I decided to return the Focal and started looking for and enclosure. This is my dilema i dont want to kill the sound of my components (45 amps) and i dont want any ratle instead a good balanced bass; with this being said i dont care for a 12". I had in mind an SWR 8D4 or an SWR 10D4 this using an MRX M55 (350 RMS @ 4 ohm). Im getting a knob controll so i can easily turn up or down the bass. Im trying to keep everything Alpine but open for some other brands (i know JL's are gd stuff 2). With this being said what size of sub and what amp need to be used so these could all come together. Thanks in advance for the inputs guys.:hello: |
Just a note on rattles; I found the Z can produce rattles with even a modest sub depending on where it is and how low you go. I ended up using felt tape where panels met plastic or metal. Worked like a charm.
You might not have this problem, so don't go chasing windmills, but just in case. |
