DVD I can live without. |
Only 2v Pre Amp out on the head units.. Not a fan if that. Other wise I like the idea.

People have described the app radios as "dangerous" bc you have to fidget with your phone if you want to do anything.
The app radio is best described as a monitor where your phone is the "brain" or computing center. |

if it can do android full feature without needing to plugging in, and if it can do nav while playing music in the background with separate volume for nav and music, then im in.
i doubt it can do either one. |

Jailbroken people wont have that issue as you can control your phone from the app radio , i don't know if this works on the app radio 3 , nor do i know if appradio extensions will work with a iPad mini. once i can get my hands on one i can let everyone else know and probably make a video if nobody beats me to it which i hope somebody does lol. |

so what your saying is that this head unit is not gonna have a good audio quality no matter what speakers i choose or amps. compared to lets say a Pioneer avic-z150bh since thats a 4v? or am i understanding this the wrong way?. |

^ thanks for clairfying the difference between 2v and 4v. Been eye'ing on this headunit for a while now and I think it's a winner. There are 2 versions one plays dvd and one doesn't and it's 100 bux cheaper so I'm about to buy soon ^_^

You will get good sound quality just your going to have to turn your gains up higher on your amps which can in term allow more noise to be amplified. Not saying you will hear noise just the higher voltage of a normal head unit 4 volt pre out will be better than 2 volt which is really low. To give you an idea of how low eclipse use to run 8 volt pre out. Quote:
You should get slightly hung up on the pre amp voltage as the audio starts at the head unit so anything good or bad done there will be amplified down line. |
I'm wondering if the single din X7500 BT might be a better HU for some folks: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...rs/AVH-X7500BT
One complaint I have about the double dins is that the screen sits so low. The X7500 would have it in front of the cubby (but retractable when you need to pull out your 8Tracks). Also, 4v, A2DP, 8 band equalizer, DVD. |

For those wanting 4 volt preouts and Appradio functionality I would recommend you look at the Pioneer AVH-X8500BHS. while It does lack the capacitive touch screen appradio models have, it is a better (IMO) all around unit.
AVH-X8500BHS - 2-DIN Multimedia DVD Receiver with 7” WVGA Touchscreen Display, MIXTRAX, Bluetooth®, HD Radio™ Tuner, SiriusXM Ready, and AppRadio Mode for iPhone® and Select Android™ Devices | Pioneer Electronics USA It can be found on Amazon for around $450.00 Here is a picture of my X5500BHS installed (The X8500BHS looks identical) http://www.the370z.com/members/inda3...r-x5500bhs.jpg |
Hello Inda370z :) Thanks for uploading the picture! Your Head Unit looks awesome!
Can you clarify what you meant by 'while It does lack the capacitive touch screen appradio models have'? From what I've read at the main site AVH-X8500BHS - 2-DIN Multimedia DVD Receiver with 7” WVGA Touchscreen Display, MIXTRAX, Bluetooth®, HD Radio™ Tuner, SiriusXM Ready, and AppRadio Mode for iPhone® and Select Android™ Devices | Pioneer Electronics USA the unit does support Appradio and will allow compatible apps to show up on the dash screen. Maybe it's a new feature added? Thank you |

Capacitive touchscreens pin point touch by sensing the electrons in your fingertip. You can't operate this type of touchscreen wearing gloves (or using a stylus) as it can't sense the electrons in your finger. These types of touchscreens are generally more responsive compared to resistive touchscreens. Best example of this would be your modern smartphone (iphone/android). These screens tend to not do as well in sunlight due to glare. Resistive touch screens pin point touch by sensing pressure when you press your finger on the screen. These are less responsive but can be operated when wearing gloves or by using a stylus. They often perform better in sunlight as they usually don't suffer from glare issues. The AppRadio 1/2/3 models have a capacitive touchscreen while the X5500BHS & X8500BHS have resistive touchscreens. As far as I know, the X8500 has the same software "Appradio apps" functionality as the appradio 3... but I could be wrong there. I posted these in the X5500BHS radio post, but here is my installed X5500 again, http://www.the370z.com/members/inda3...823-064253.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/inda3...820-060014.jpg |

Hmmm. I'm running polk components in the fronts and polk 3.5s in the rear and have zero noise; I'm mean really surprising lack of noise.
I've been running iOS 7 for a few months and look forward to a jailbreak as well. |
Ahh. Ok. Makes sense.
I wonder if I'd see significant improvement from a different HU. |
