Navigation Update?

Does anybody know how much it cost to simply update the navigation map? And the best way to go about it?

To be honest, I guess it depends how (in)accurate your system is now. I don't use it to search for things, I only type in addresses, so it hasn't failed me yet, but then again, there are a few new streets and gas stations and such that obviously don't show up, but, meh, iPhone FTW!

Okay, I'm in your same boat. Never have I actually been frustrated with it yet. I just figured if it wasn't to much of a hassle to update some software, I would have dealt with it some time in the near future.

Yeah, if it was CD/DVD based and I could eBay it for like $100, I'd do it, but at $249 plus the dealer bending over... I'll pass for the time being

Sucks that the 09s need dealership intervention. I caught the maps on sale and did it for $179. I actually use my nav quite a bit so I didn't mind updating it.

Think I'll look into getting this for free again. It's doable.. Hassle though

For free? I seem to be attracted to this particular word for some reason. How would you go about getting this accomplished?

Last I looked into it the maps are available via torrent but labeled for some euro car. You'd have to get the nissan tools and do the install yourself.

Nissan Navigation Map Updates | Home | HERE

I know this is an old thread, but, updates available for $99 until June 10 if I remember correctly. I should have mine tomorrow. Mine will be an update from 2013 to current. I will let you know what I think.

I would be interested in what you think about the update. Mine is still the original version that came in the car & wondering if it is worth the cost.

Since my car is a 2016, I wasn't sure if it was worth the $'s to get the 2017 maps. The updated points of interest are probably the best part, since restaurants and gas stations are constantly opening and closing.

As someone who works in I.T., I'm pretty familiar with computer stuff like this. So that earlier post talking about ways to update the maps free has me interested. I thought these maps worked like they did in other factory nav systems I've had, where just having a copy of the DVD of map data doesn't do you any good. What you're *really* paying for is the key code they provide you based on your vehicle's VIN number. Without that, it won't install.

Has someone created a key-generator to make your own valid codes? That's what it seems like you'd need, unless somebody found a way to transfer the updated maps and POIs directly to the NAV system's internal drive, bypassing the normal installer process on the disc?

Interested as I have an '09... Revray would you mind sharing how much the dealer actually charged to install this ??
