iPad dash kit... Will there ever be one?
 

I remember a few years ago Scosche was supposed to release a product called the iKit, which was supposed to be a dash kit where you directly attached your iPad to your dash and used it as your full blown headunit.

Why hasn't someone come out with this yet? It seems to me like a no brainer with all these custom tablet installs we see. The new head units do really do anything that these tablets couldn't handle... What's hold these companies back?

Seems like there would have to be lots of different versions (like bezel kits for cars) and with the tablet market changing so rapidly, the investment might me short lived. Perhaps a disincentive?

I wonder if there is a liability concern at all? I know it can be used as a GPS etc., I'm just trying to think like a risk averse attorney.
