iPHONE Control DD Unit?

Hello all.. I am looking for some advice on a double din unit. I just picked up my car almost 2 weeks ago and am wanting to put a screen radio in it. I have been going back and forth with spending 600$+ on a dvd w/ navigation vs 300$ish for just the DVD/CD unit.

Then I found the whole "iphone app" control thing that pioneer is offering where you can just have your google maps live feeding to your player. Why would anyone spend the extra $300 not to do this? I digress but am now in a pickle.

I have searched and searched and have come down to a few options but still need feedback. I am looking for:

-perferrably the 7" but not a must
- have app control so I can run navigation off it through my phone

And thats it. Just mainly the app control is what I want so I can save some $$$. All I have come up with is the Pioneer AVHX5500BHS, the Appradio, and just recently read that one of the Kenwood DDX370 has app control but I dont know if the GPS interface is the same as what I am looking at with the Pioneer's.

I have read nothing but mixed reviews on the app radio, but maybe some of you audio fanatics can give me some options. Thanks

Kenwood DDX370 or DDX470 will get the job done, but you must purchase the iphone cable for around 59.99. Also no Iphone 5 hardware as of yet I think......

I didn't need BT so I got the DDX370 this week for only 249!!
Also for anyone who likes adding amps...this features 3 sets of RCA's @ 4V!!!

Just like last years setup...2012 Garmin Street Pilot For iPhone App - DDX719-DDX419-DDX319 - YouTube
Garmin or MotionX apps....

okay I have it down to the DDX470 and the AVH5500BHS. they both have the navigation app ready through the iphone.

(I might even get the DDX370 because I dont know how much Ill use the bluetooth.)

Anyone give me any insight on these two? I have been reading the kenwoods have a slow lag time between menus....? I am just wanting the best bang for my buck. I would like to order it all today so all opinions are welcomed.

DDX 370/470 or AVH5500BHS?

can someone tell me if you have to buy the "pioneer" iphone cable to play video/audio with the unit too? or will just a standard iphone charging cable work?

He's right, I have the AppRadio2. The pre-out is not great. All they did was change the firmware and introduce a model with an integrated DVD/CD ROM.
There are only 4 outs, and you have to choose if you want the rears to be just subs or full range.

There is a general AppRadio3 model that comes with the drive in it.
And there is a 'crutchfield' exclusive model that is like the old AppRadio2.

Eventually will just simply release the new AppRadio3 firmware we are hoping or someone on AVIC411 will rip it so we can put it on our AppRadio2's.

Be warned about Apple Products on AppRadio. You have to allow them to launch every time in AppRadio, unless you are jailbroken and using some kind of app with it from Cyndia. The iPhone5 is an even bigger hassle as you have to buy the DigitalAV adapter and you get SLOW bluetooth functionality to the AR2. I actually wanted full on integration so I went from an iPhone5 to a Samsung S4 a few days ago. Couldnt be happier with AppRadio working with full functions in my andriod phone and wirelessly too!

No you don't. The Pioneer kit is a waste of money for the HDMI units from Pioneer. You have to buy the Digital AV cable anyways and supply your own lightning adapter.

I am in fact selling the Proclip I had in my Z, with the Apple Digital AV adapter I painted black cause I dont need it anymore.

All the touch controls are handled VIA bluetooth along with data.
All video/sound is handled through the HDMI interface.

Dont need the fancy cable (Automotive Grade HDMI cable )

I have the Pioneer 4500BT and run the advance app tool from my iPhone 4s Very happy with it so far. Pioneer has the newest version out on this line. I ditched my XM radio in favor of Pandora and I love it. Best $5 per month every spent. I use my iphone now for just about everything while driving; mapping, traffic/weather updates, calls etc. This will be the wave of the future...Let me know if I can answer some questions.
