Steering wheel control lights cutting out

I've had this problem for a while now and it's finally bugging me enough to do something about it. The steering wheel control lights keep cutting out. If I turn the wheel, they come back on. The controls themselves work fine regardless of if the lights are working or not. Any ideas what would cause this? Is it related to the clock spring at all?

Yes the clock spring houses all the wires for the switches/airbag/horn/lights on the steering wheel. If the lights are going off and on when you turn the wheel then that's a good sign that a wire in the clock spring is possibly in the process of breaking, has a bad connection.

That's what I figured. So I guess I just take the steering wheel off to get to it and replace it?

I wouldn't be trying to remove a steering wheel, IMO time for the dealership to take a look.

I replaced the clock spring on my Durango. It was a piece of cake.
