09 370Z iPod cable: Reconnect every time I start the car??

Hey guys, been a member on this forum for a long time now, but finally picked up my 09 touring/sport/nav this past weekend.

I recently purchased my iPod cable at the Nissan dealership for $35, and plugged in my iPod.

First, please remember that there are no USB ports on the 2009's, just in case that is the issue.

I have an iPhone5, but an older gen iPod nano that I planned to just leave connected all the time. I'm aware that I have to purchase an adapter that will cause the cable to charge the iPod as well, however, I didn't think that I would have to reconnect the iPod EVERY time I turned on the car in order for the Z to pick up that an iPod was connected.

I owned an A4, and I left this iPod plugged in 24/7 for a year straight and never had to reconnect it. Is there a way to avoid having to reconnect the iPod every time I start the car?

Finally, sorry if this answer is on the forums already, I've searched and searched for about 30 minutes total (which is actually a pretty long time to just search), and found nothing related to this issue.

Any advice/help is appreciated.

Thanks!

I haven't used that in a long while, But if you buy the charging adapter?

It will wake the iPod and the car will recognize then.

Im pretty sure thats going to be the case, But someone else can confirm it or correct me if Im wrong

Hm, that makes sense! So I just ordered that adapter/charger thing for $9.99 shipped off eBay! Let's hope that solves the problem!

09 370Z iPod cable: Reconnect every time I start the car??

Hey,
I have the same issue, seems on mine even though the iPod is charged when off the circuitry seems to discharge the iPod battery. Then, when you turn the car on the iPod battery is low and the charge circuitry gives the device enough of a quick boost (because your battery isn't defective or rejecting the charge) to enable the head unit to find it. The next time this happens instead of unplugging switch to another source then switch back to the iPod and see what happens.
PS: any iDevices after 5th gen uses pin 8 to charge, older iDevices used pins 11 & 12 (FireWire) to charge, hence hooking a new iDevice that charges via pin 8 (USB 5 V) won't charge, so you need the power adapter. I tried the Scosche adapter and I lost control of the iPod intermittently, tried two with same results....

Just want to confirm to everyone here that what I got solved the problem perfectly! I now get to have my iPod charged, and I don't have to reconnect it every time I start the car. Success!

For reference, here's what I got off eBay: iPod iPhone iTouch No Error Charging Adapter 12V 5V I 12V 5V | eBay

Not sure how long that link will last; but it was $9.99 shipped and arrived in just TWO days, literally. Insanely fast shipping and perfectly working results. Can't complain!

I covered this in a different thread, I bought a Scosche charging adapter I believe off amazon, it charges the Ipod/Iphone and works with the 09. Also understandably if the car is OFF the iPod wont charge and lose battery so after a couple of days if the battery dies when you start the car the iPod needs to charge for a few minutes before it will turn back on.

Enjoy the new Z!
