Base Stereo Rear Aux Input
Does anyone know if there is another AUX input on the rear of the base stereo? I would like to add wiring for another input source without the clutter of a 3.5mm cable on the front of the stereo. Thanks.

Someone that has replaced the base unit has got to know this off hand. Thanks.

i dont remember it having a rear 3.5" input. does the base HU have satelite radio buttons?
If so, you might be able to find the pins for that. the last time i saw my base HU was 4yrs ago. the week i bought the car i replaced it. but honestly just replace the HU with aftermarket. much better, cleaner, and probably faster. |
It does not have a aux port in the back, I think isimple makes a aftermarket add on for an additional aux port as well as usb, however that may be for the bose head unit.
An aftermarket unit would have one normally in the rear and front. |

^ nice find!
but at $99, you can spend a little more and get a real HU.. :eekdance: |
Thanks all.

The base head unit really is inferior. I made several attempts to work with it even though several people on this form advised against using it. They were right and I was wrong. In the long run you will be MUCH happier replacing the POS (their words, not mine but now I agree with them) stock unit with an aftermarket unit.

i know what you are trying to do and there is one more problem.
even if you "create" one in the back as i had planned on doing you still will not be able to switch to AUX mode. the HU detects when a cable is inserted and will allow you to switch. i discovered this by accidentally unplugging it while in AUX mode and it switched to the radio and i could not change it back to AUX until i reinserted the cable. ive decided to just get an after market HU and at the same time put in some rear speakers while im at it |
