A '12 where the spare tire is in the 370z

Does anyone know anyone that is selling this setup or a website that will make it for my 370z? I want to put a 12 where the spare tire is and have my trunk space the same! I have seen it done on some 370z's and would seriously love it I dont want to have to do it myself but just depends on what people charge ;)

What in the holy hell are you asking? I cannot understand at all

Mitco39 01-22-2013 12:01 PM

I do believe he is asking about a 12" sub where the spare tire sits.

thanks thats still not what I am looking for though. looking for one that does not come through the carpet or floor like I want it a 100% hidden

VDC_OFF 01-22-2013 01:59 PM

Just use your stock carpet and dont use a grill. W.A.S. only makes a 10 and 13 though.

Tyler_370z 01-22-2013 02:13 PM

well the sub comes through the carpet doesnt it I would rather just raise the floor if need be

VDC_OFF 01-22-2013 02:54 PM

it doesnt have to. It does have a small circle wall that sticks out maybe half an inch around the speaker that the protective grill goes on but you can just take the grill off. They sell the carpet that has a hole but you dont have to buy it, you can use your stock carpet. However it may muffle the sound a bit, not sure. I imagine you can cut a thin layer off the bottom of the carpet to let some sound come through. Just dont place anything on top of the carpet in that area ;) You can probably cut a hole in the plastic piece that comes with your car to make a spacer for the carpet. Ill try to take a pic of mine from the side with the grill off for you

To put the box inside your spare, and keep it below your floor level would more than likely not be enough air space, without raising the floor to accomodate it. You would definitely be limited to a shallow mount sub as well, and have to take into consideration the displacement of the sub itself. Soooo....
A box built to fit inside the spare, and stay below floor level will only be approx. 3.5 to 4" deep overall and 15" in diameter, giving you internal volume of approx .5-.6 cu ft tops. Deduct for your sub displacement, and you need a sub that will play in .3 to .4 cu ft. Tough task indeed, and probably not your best option.

^^True, when I made mine I think it measured at .3 cu ft. I had to raise it up 3-4 inches i think to get it to ~.75 cu ft.
Its not that hard to make a fiberglass box inside your spare tire, just take ALOT of preparation and buy more materials than you think you need. extra unused stuff can always be returned.
first time i tried something like this...
