Axxess

hey everyone, I'm planing on getting the Clarion CX501 Double-din receiver, and was hoping to use the axxess kit. but do you guys think it will work on this head unit? it doesn't mention clarion on the website, only (pioneer, sony, alpine, ken wood, eclipse, JVC) and even though it says that it may work with "others" as well, I'm afraid it may not. i was wondering if anyones tried the axxess kit with with other brands that aren't pioneer, sony, alpine, ken wood, eclipse or JVC? or is it basically a universal harness with any aftermarket head unit?

thanks :tiphat:

I have this head unit with that steering wheel control and it works great! No delays except a very slight one with Bluetooth only.

Just make sure the firmware is up to date on the Axxess otherwise you will get random/intermittent Source and volume changes. (known issue with Axxess on ALL head units) If you buy a new one today it SHOULD be up to date, so no issue unless you buy a older used one. But if you need to flash it, its easy you do it on a PC with a special USB cable you need to buy.

I highly recommend the metra. However I have never upgraded the firmware and never had a problem with random changes. Just make sure you do a manual program.

Must be with certain head units then. Well it happens with this one, until you update to latest firmwares. If you buy it after Feb 2012 you should be good to go:

btw quick question! since you have the same head unit i want. if you connect a device like an iPod/ipad/iphone.. etc.. through blue tooth, are you able to switch between songs through the steering wheel?
we can't do that with the stock head unit which drives me crazy :shakes head:
