Alpine shallow mount subs

anybody know if these are any good? im thinking of making a FG enclosure for my z... i have my mdf ring coming in already... originally i was gonna use my JL W3 but not enough clearance so im going to be using a shallow mount sub instead... since JL only makes a 13 shallow mount which costs like 500 bucks... thats totally outa the budget range for me.

Id like to keep everything uniform therefore if i get this ill get all alpine components and i already have a alpine amp so it kinda works out

Sir
have heard nothing bad or good about the Alpines. I can tell you, i would save for the JL.. I currently have one in my Z, and when i say it makes a world of difference, truly an amazing speaker. I would wait and get the JL...

I currently run ths Soundstream stealth 13" and I love it. Pioneer also makes a very good shallow mount in their premier line, and more recently their "championship" shallow mount (which is basically the same sub)
The Soundstream was around $250
The pioneer can be had for around $150

ill look into those subs man thanks

+1 for shallow pioneer subs.

I installed a 12" Shallow sub behind the seat of my friends Tacoma 4 door.

It BUMPS. And the box, sub, and amp, all fit behind the seat within 4" of room.

Thats the one! I believe my friends was somewhere between $100-150. Once you know the model you want, you can just search for the cheapest one.

I have thought about adding a shallow 10" to my Z. It would be just the right amount of bass.

WoofersEtc.com - Stealth-13 - Soundstream 13.5" Shallow Mount Subwoofer Or this one.

lol I am actually considering buying one of those pioneers just to try it. I'm really not what you would call "brand loyal", I get what works for me, no matter what name is on it. By the way, I just saw the SS sub at onlinecarstereo for $149

Astrosfan 10-23-2012 10:51 AM

i have that pioneer sub in my current set-up. Its not a bad sub. clean and not "boomy". it seems pretty durable as well. I put groceries on it and have taken it to its limit many times. I want something a little louder in the future but am satisfied with my purchase for now...

Can you take a pic of your setup?

Swr t12

I have these in a custom fiberglass box in my truck. Only way to fit 2 12's under a dodge 3rd gen back seat. It hits well, sounds deep for shallows. My box is sealed so not the loudest setup i've ever had, but clean and tight for sure. If you ran a ported or vented box it would prolly hit crazy hard

thats one clean set up man

Cummins_Bred 10-29-2012 03:14 PM

thanks man, i love it. Clean sound, and not a soul knows it's there with the seats down, until you turn it up of course. Most girls whine when they don't get shotgun, but "money in the bank" or something dubstep-ish and they stop whining and start laughing/smiling/yelling haha :icon17:

Thats sexy CUMMINS! Clean box.

Backseat=4foot vibrator.
