A couple of questions for ROBONES:

Is that the stock bezel in your pictures?
How is the audio quality when making phone calls? This unit does not have an external microphone right?

robones 10-11-2012 01:33 PM

A video demonstration of the receiver in DJ mode. the lights illuminate based on bass frequencies and the receiver automatically transitions to the next song like a human DJ would. This setting is so amazing when you drive at night because your entire cabin lights up with different colors! The people outside always get freaked out because of all these lights going off inside my car!

To answer "speedracer's" questions: Yes, its the stock bezel. The phone quality is outstanding. There is almost no road noice for callers who call me. Additionally, the receiver does come with an external microphone. The installer installed it right above my rear view mirror, center of the cabin. I believe he did it this way to reduce/eliminate road noice during phone calls. The calls are very clear. Another cool feature, the radio lights up like 4th of July when a call is coming in. (you can change the settings, how fast, the lights illuminate ect.

When you select Bluetooth as a source, you can pass the audio from your phone to the receiver, so if you are using your phone as GPS, you will hear the directions through your speakers. Applications, music, anything that has audio, can be transfered to the receiver.

AGAIN ALL FOR $150.00 DOLLARS! you cannot beat it!

Thanks for the quick response!!!:tiphat:

Any chance you can share a picture of the external microphone? I am thinking of doing this install myself and will need to determine how to run the wire up there (right after I hit enter on this I will do a "Search")

Robones, can you post a pic with the lights matched to the amber ambient lighting in the Z at night? I wanna see how well it integrates with everything.

robones 10-11-2012 06:26 PM

just look at my profile

speedracer007 10-11-2012 10:12 PM

I see the Pioneer FH-X700BT is available on Amazon for $119.49. Looks like I could get everything needed for around $170. Decisions, decisions................

robones 10-12-2012 09:28 AM

$119.00??? really, is there any decision to make?

Have you found the metra harness or steering wheel control kit on amazon? Is there anything else needed to get it working top notch in our vehicles?

speedracer007 10-12-2012 12:24 PM

I believe this is the harness that has been recommended for the steering wheel controls ($43):

Amazon.com: Metra Axxess ASWC Universal Steering Wheel Control Interface (Black): Car Electronics

speedracer007 10-12-2012 12:29 PM

New price for the FH-X700BT --- $117.82

Just be patient like I am :) it will be worth the wait. The unit has built in Bluetooth and built in HD radio plus it has steering wheel controls. No additional accessories required as in those other "...ready" radios. There are you tube videos that show case everything that it does and it will make you fall in love with it more.

Robones -- Did the FH-X700BT really come with steering wheel controls? Meaning that I would not need to get the Metra Axxess controller? Or were you referring to the CD-SR100 Steering Wheel Remote that clips onto the steering wheel

Actually No to my dismay...I was misinformed :ugh2: so I ended up purchasing one from the shop who did my install. It was like 60 bucks or something.

Nope ---- Facebook stock!!!!!!!!:bowrofl:

Bboyeruga 10-12-2012 02:49 PM

So we will need the harness.

So to wrap up for everyone, the best 2 din head unit and all the stuff you need to hook it up:

Head Unit $117.82

Steering Wheel Control Harness $43.33

Double Din Faceplate $28.98

Total: $190.13 (Plus installation if you don't do it yourself)

Does that look about right guys?

robones 10-12-2012 03:36 PM

I was more concerned with whether there was anything else they needed for install. Calculator got my back for the math :rofl2:

I think you will also need an Antenna adaptor (I believe this is the correct one -- Metra 40-NI12. Crutchfield says it is)

Antenna Adapter Works with select 2006-up Infiniti, Suzuki and Nissan vehicles (Motorola male to OEM antenna female) at Crutchfield.com

Also, a question on the Double Din Faceplate -- do you only need it if you have the Bose system? I have a 2013 Base model, and the faceplate looks already to be sized for a double din unit.

All aftermarket head units require something like the metra axxess in order to interface with the vehicles steering wheel controls.

Yes, you only need it if you have the bose system. I have the base stereo and I did not need a faceplate. It just swaps right in.

Thanks. :tiphat:
