Question for Base and NISMO owners...

... so why exactly does the factory stereo have a fader?

Complicated way to mute the sound?

A reminder that we have no rear speakers?

:D

Because the same stereo is used in multiple vehicles form nissan.

No rears.

There are wires for rear speakers behind those back plates though.

I know. It was an attempt (a poor one) at humor.

I was messing with the radio yesterday and thought it was funny that it had a fader and that everything went quiet when I set it to full rear.

Needless to say, I will not be listening to much of the radio as it is barely one step above me singing in the shower with bronchitis.

And they are already hooked up to the factory radio? So all Nissan had to do when building the car was stick a pair of speakers in there and they could advertise that the NISMO came with a 6-speaker stereo, but they chose not to?

Awesome.

No there are no wires ready to go behind the rear speaker grills. You have to run new wires.

My wife's 2006 Sentra ($14K) had a Rockford Fosgate system with 6 speakers and a 8 inch sub in the trunk! Factory!

Wanna bet! There are wires for each back speaker for the oem stereo. I have only wired both my 370z's I think I would know.

Would you like a picture or wiring diagram?

Sure, considering I have had over 30 370z's apart and know the car in and out. I know for a fact that the head unit has the outputs on the head unit for rears. However you need to add the pins to the factory harness and run new wires to the rear in order to power rear speakers.

UNLESS you have the bose system which comes wires and with rear speakers installed.

Yep, this guy is right. I installed rear speakers in mine and those wires don't connect to anything. It's such a weird thing; if they want to claim weight savings from those little 3.5" speakers, why would they include the provisions which attach to nothing?

i just found out i dont have rear speakers! haha i tried to change the fade from front to back and all it did was adjust from the speakers on top of my dash to the door speakers...i do have an aftermarket deck but still, i am a bit disappointed that i dont have rear speakers. I was wondering why my sound system didnt have much treble...
