I have a Pioneer AVIC-Z140BH and the stock backup cam on my nismo works fine.

How did you hook it up? :-)

Sorry to bump an older thread but..................
I am wondering if this has been done yet. I have a 2013 with the factory Homelink mirror - backup camera option. If I upgrade the HU (thinking of the Kenwood DDX419) it would be nice to send a video signal to it as well. Nissan has done the majority of the work for me already :tiphat:, I just need to find the video feed and splice into it to send to the HU too. |
Nobody has spliced into the OEM mirror video feed and sent it to an aftermarket HU???
I am not too much of an audiophile, I just want to replace the stock HU because it does not have a USB port for my Flash Drive with all my music on it. I was thinking the Pioneer or Clarion HUs for around $150 - $170, but may jump up to the Kenwood DDX419 ($275 on Amazon) if I can get the extra added benefit of the rear camera video feed being sent to it also. If anyone knows where the feed wire is and how exactly I could splice into it I would appreciate it :tiphat: |

Getting a little closer. I have the factory cam with aftermarket radio.... No mirror...trying to figure out how to tap it. Here is the oem install instructions. Maybe this will help you since yours matches exactly. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD |
Thanks for the update -- I will start reading through it. Still have not bought aftermarket radio yet. Might be a project for my Christmas break.

Hhhhhmmmm.......those are oem install instructions for the roadster. They talk about running the wiring up on the driver's side. Somewhere else on this forum it was stated that the rearview camera wiring is run up the passenger side.
I searced some on that site for oem instructions for the coupe but could not find any -- that seemed strange. Oh well, my search continues. |
It runs up the drivers side on both.
|
I'll post the instructions shortly, once I get back to my pc.

I was talking to a guy at the local "Window Tint & Stereo Install" place in town about getting my windows tinted. I asked him if he knew how to tie into the rearview camera feed and his only reply was "It is a real pain". Of course he could have been trying to sell me on their install service |
Below is a link to the instructions. I tapped into the camera feed behind the drivers side kick panel.

Do you happen to remember what color is the wire that I need to splice into? Looking at the back of the mirror, there are about 8 different color wires being feed into it. Maybe that is spelled out in the directions somewhere, but I dont see it :icon14: (I am looking at Figure 23, 24 & 47) |
Hey, thought I would give a shout out again. Any help on locating the correct wire to splice into down in the driver's side kick panel for the video feed?

OK, I am really close to making a new Headunit purchase (looking at the Pioneer AVH-x2500bt now).
I have looked through the instructions on installing the OEM Homelink mirror and see that the wires are feed down to the drivers side panel. What I am still not sure is what color of wire am I going to splice into for the video feed? Also, what is the setup for this wire that I will run to the headunit (bare wire that I splice on one end, RCA jacks on the other?). Would I need to connect the wire on the Headunit to the "Reverse" power wire, or since that is already done for the mirror, would the video just show up when the Headunit senses a video signal? The plug that connects to the Homelink mirror is a 10 pin setup. "Top" row has Red, Green, Black, Pink, Black. "Bottom" row has Red, White, Green. Ideally I would like the rearview camera video show up in the mirror & the Headunit. Any help by the experts would be much appreciated!!! :bowrofl: |
Mirror & camera.
It can be done, I bought a Nismo without Bose & had the dealer throw in the 790$ mirror, you tap the orange wire @ the fuse panel (details on Nissan tech net) to power the harness that powers the camera, signal is provided through the harness, (I have a 940bt pioneer & made the harness ,tapping the wires out of the harness that came with the mirror) into a RCA & have camera out of hu & mirror. Details, I'll get you the link :)
