Newbie questions

Need some advice from the audio experts.

So i am in the process of replacing the base unit,i do not have the Bose just the basic piece of crap Nissan put in there, very surprised how a 35k car can have such a crap stereo.

So i am looking at few different Double DIN units with Navigation, however I might as well replace the speakers in the door and up on the dash.

I like to be frugal so I will probably look for a used double din and speakers...can someone tell me what direction to take on which Double Din is good but will not break the bank. Also when shopping on ebay what size speakers should i be looking for to replace the door and the dash speakers.

Once installed is it easy at a later point to install a back up camera?Or should i be doing it at the same time

Thanks in advance

Manny

If you want to stay in budget JVC has some nice HU's for the money, other wise stay with the name brands, Kenwood, Alpine, Pioneer. Speakers i wounldn't buy used, i wouldn't buy used on any of it really, but size wise you'll want a 6.5" componate set, the 6.5's will go in the dorrs with just a spacer, and the tweeters will go in with a spacer or back strap to the dash speaker spot, stock they are 2.5" so no real drop ins for there.
Camera...up to you...but if you have the car apart it's better to do it all at once and save taking it apart again.

Also if you're going to replace the speakers, keep in mind you only have about 15-20 rms from any aftermarket HU, so you wont need 100watt speakers, unless you want to add an amp later.

I would presonally not skim on any of it really. Take your time and do it in stages.

Head unit and rear camera

Than speakers,

If not go with a set of polk db's or other set of mid range components and a good head unit.

Make sure to run new speaker wire as well.

I just picked up the new Kenwood DNX 9990HD for $1,399, but that was a pre-order. I was at an audio place this past week and they had the 9980HD on sale for the price I paid. I agree with Big, don't skimp when it comes to your audio.... remember you and others have to listen to it.
