Getting Head
Unit:icon18:
Thought the title might catch some eyes.. Okay, here's the situation. I've got a '10 Vert with Bose and I want to put a real stereo in to replace it. I have been looking at the GPS in-dash like the Kenwood everybody seems to be putting in theirs. The only thing is, I'd like to put in a headphone jack that comes off of the head unit so that I can plug in while I'm on the highway. Don't know if that is weird or not, but I do a lot of highway driving and am already past the half-deaf mark. So, is there any way of hooking a headphone jack into a head unit? I'm thinking of doing something nice like putting the jacks somewhere in the center console. Also, anybody have a suggestion for the best head unit out right now? Thanks, Mike |
It should be difficult to find a HU like that. It is illegal to use headsets while driving since it would be hard to hear emergency vehicles.

Yeah, you're probably right. Having said that, I hear people blaring their stereos so loud you know they can't hear their own cars rattle.
|
No doubt about that. I have been known to one of them myself. Just wanted to warn you though as you would probably get the ticket for headphones before the boom boxers will.:icon14:
|
Me too. That's why I'm half-deaf:) Might have to get flesh colored ear buds.

Lol

This possible just use the RCA-Preouts and an RCA to female head phone jack conversion. This is as stated very illegal tho
|
That's a great idea. Ok, so minus the headphones, what head unit does everybody suggest? Would love to have Pandora in it.
|
I know its illegal to have headphones on, but then why do they let Deaf People get a drivers License? Sometimes the law just doesnt make any sense.
|
Armhunter,
That's hilarious, I'd never even put any thought into that question, but you're right... |

Yeah, do it all the time on my bike.
But now that I'm putting thought into it, there has to be an easy way to do it because my Denali has plug ins for the rear passengers. That isn't illegal, so I wonder if I just have to get the right HU or if I do like BigNate suggested and go RCAs on it. I'm kind of stereo stupid, so any help would be appreciated. |
the new alpine INA-W910 is good but if your on a budget try this alpine CDE-135BT bluetooth and headphone jack
|
Always like the Alpines, I'll check them out!
