Mounting depth in doors vs speaker depth

So, I currently have a pair of Polk Audio 6.5" speakers (shallow mount depth) in the door because I could not seem to fit anything else due to depth issues. Is there somewhere that sells a speaker spacer so that you can fit Hertz Hi-Energy HCX 165 speakers in the doors? I could not find anything that I figured would fit well with them. Without spacers, the Hertz speaker magnet hits the metal frame of the window slide inside the door.

Zenclosure site does and they come in various diameters for your speaker.

How deep of a spacer can we use without fitment issues?

The standard one sold by zenclosures is just on the edge of how big you can go, there is a lot of room in the rear with that spacer. What kind of speakers are you looking to install? I did a install with a set of image dynamics cxs woofers which are huge and had no problems.

Only running two speakers for now so I was looking at the Hertz HCX 165 coaxial speakers. My amp is a JL XD200/2 so I did not think I could run a component set, especially considering the amp is only 75W x 2 @ 4ohms. The coaxial HCX 165s already ask for 25W more RMS (100W RMS).

Per the dimensions of that speaker on the Hertz site, I suspect that I need the Zenclosure speaker spacer with the 5.75" center cutout.

I would run components and your amp will run them fine. Just make sure to run new speaker wire to everything. I would not waste my money on coaxial speakers. As someone else found out they can be disappointing.
