Is this site legit?

techniquescity.com

looks too good to be true....

Nillaz 03-16-2012 01:58 AM

I can't for the life of me believe that this is legit. If it seems to good to be true...it probably is.

A quick search for the site comes up with plenty of hits for them placing classifieds on lots of car enthusiast websites, but I can't find one mention anywhere of someone actually buying a product from them.

A whois query references a different guy in Georgia , and digging just a bit deeper is inconclusive. The website looks nice enough for what it is, but looking at the HTML shows it was built from a pretty basic digiSHOP template. This in and of itself doesn't necessarily mean anything terrible as lots of small businesses have to go this route for e-commerce as a cost saving measure but something about the site just feels off.

Oh, and the big flag is he is openly selling products that won't be released to the public for quite some time. Most legitimate businesses would advertise these products as pre-orders but these guys make them appear as if they are ready to ship today.

Overall, if it was me I would make sure my credit card stays firmly in my wallet. Just my :twocents:, but I don't want to see fellow forum members get burned.

Hope this helps.

If they claim to be an "authorized dealer" couldn't you e-mail one of the brands they sell to confirm?

bigaudiofanat 03-16-2012 09:28 AM

This does not look like a legit address to start with

Techniquescity Sdn Bhd

After I replied to the OP last night I looked into this a bit further. Neither Alpine, Kenwood, or Pioneer have this business name or any business listed at the supplied address in their authorized dealer database.

I would stay far away! I think you can find a good deal a little closer than Malaysia.

I've spent a lot of time over there years ago working, and let's just say there is a lot of grey market product available over there. It looks legit and can even be sold right in a shopping mall in a store. Laws may be enforced differently there so some "retail" can seem suspect.
Website sales claiming authorized dealer - my advice - stay far away from this.

Megagoli112 03-18-2012 08:22 PM

too legit to quit!

yeah looks fine... its perfectly normally to run a business from the back of a rickshaw with the driver doing warm-up calisthenics :happydance:...

Drew1973 03-25-2012 08:16 PM

techniquescity.com

That website is totally a scam. See the emails below that I had with "Bob Peatman" who is listed as the contact person for this company. You will easily come to the same conclusion. P.S. The rickshaw comment is even giving this company too much credit.

Best regards,

Andrew

Bob,

If that is even your real name which I seriously doubt it... You have clearly evaded several of my questions which raises immediate red flags. When you refrain from answering specific questions regarding your product you do not exactly come across as trustworthy or business savvy. I had asked your twice in the emails below as to how you have a product in stock for sale that has not been released yet by Pioneer. Also you did not answer whether the product was authentic or a replica. A person would have to be out of their mind to pay you via western union for any of your listed products as it would give them no protection or recourse should there be a problem. Should your business be "100% legit" as you say it is you may want to at least rethink the credit card route as a method of payment. The Western Union only form of payment is very suspicious. I firmly believe that my findings with Pioneer tomorrow would have clearly exposed you and your company as fraudulent. Good luck with trying to sell false products and trying to scam people out of their money. I will not be one of those people and I shall make certain to post our email discussion on the internet to share my experience in order to help others decide whether or not to purchase or even waste their time contacting your or your company.

Bob,

I do not mean to offend you, but I can not find anywhere on the internet where a single person has reviewed his or her experience purchasing any products from your company. Your pricing is very favorable. Would Pioneer be able to verify your company as an authorized reseller of their products? You have still not answered how you would have the AVIC-Z140GH when it has not be released yet. No one else has it in stock, but you claim that you do. It your product a replica or is it the real version? All of my questions listed will need to be addressed before I feel comfortable about purchasing this equipment from your company. Malaysia has a bad reputation for credit card fraud, etc. This price and availability of a product yet to be released seems to good to be true.

Best regards,

Andrew

Hi Bob,

Are you guys an authorized dealer for Pioneer? I checked on Pioneer's website and your company is not listed as an authorized dealer. I have never purchased anything from your company before, and I want to be sure that you guys are a legitimate company. Also how do you have this item in stock if Pioneer has not released this model yet?

Best regards,

Andrew

Drew1973 - good heads up! By the way, you missed removing your email address once in your post.

gpriore 03-26-2012 01:54 PM

Dear Drew1973, I would personally like to thank you very much for listing your full email conversation with TechniquesCity!! A simple thing I should point out is that the Western Union company was actually created FOR Thieves. That's the only reason it exists. When the name Western Union is EVER listed, that means the subject is "automatically" a scam. Simple enough.

lol Western Union wasn't created for thieves. Western Union was originally formed to create a unified telegraph communications network. It just so happens that today they primarily run a money transfer service that is preferred by thieves and scammers, but it still has it's legitimate uses.

That's all besides the point however. No matter what form of payment these guys prefer I wouldn't give them a rusty nickel.

Techniquecity is a full on scam. Do not buy from them. I just lost $1000 trying to buy a DJM 900 Pioneer mixer to use as DJ equipment. He sent pictures of the item that I wanted to buy, that did seem to be legitimate. The pictures were taken in a warehouse that clearly did house a variety of hi-tech electronic equipment. He said that he would use FedEx shipping service, and I e-mailed him many times, and he called me and assured that it was legitimate so that is why I sent him the money. He ended up sending me a tracking number for the logistics company @ website, Dynamic South Post Logistics Service || Global Transportation Services . This is not a real shipping company. When I asked him why the website was not updating the location of my items, he claimed that the manager of that shipping company told him that it is stuck in France @ customs and I need to send him more money to release the package from customs. I obviously have refused to pay him any more money. He also claimed that he was going to add extra items to my purchase. If anyone ever has any questions about dealing with BOB PEATMAN, www.techniquescity.com, techniquescity company, or Dynamic South Post Logistics Service, Dynamic South Post Logistics Service || Global Transportation Services, please contact me directly at through this account.

I now am going to have to spend $2000 to buy the mixer through a legitimate United States website, meaning I will have spent $3000 in total to buy the mixer. I know that I will be able to make my money back because I will successfully DJ and make legitimate money that way. Which is more than I can say for Bob Peatman. I hope that he is never again able to take money from an American citizen again, which is why I am including as many keywords in this post as possible, so that anyone with a question about that website will be directed to this post. Please ask any questions about http://www.techniquescity.com or Dynamic South Post Logistics Service || Global Transportation Services. NEVER GIVE HIM ANYTHING.
