It was adapting to the rest of the POS interior

Anyone have feedback on well it works on the 370?

Drex 03-14-2012 01:13 PM

don't have pics but my 8500 x50 is mounted using suction cups on the windshield to the right of the 3 gauges (oil temp, volt, time). :o

however, i'd love to do a proper mounting and get the mute button installed as one of the buttons on the console inbetween the seats, since i can't reach the button where the power plug is under the glove box.

haitech 03-14-2012 03:41 PM

just suction cupped right under the gentex

Regardless, the V1 mount itself is meant for the V1 to rest against the windshield and will rattle, especially on a sports car with stiff suspension.

It looks like just to the driver's side of the RVM is where it's going to end up.

Heres mine. I'd have it closer to the mirror, but my toll tag is there, and the suction cups would come loose when it was cold during winter. Also, it got in the way of my driver's side visor (which I use often) if I put it to the left of the rear view mirror.

same with the passport...

ImportConvert 03-15-2012 12:59 AM

Meh, broke down and bought a Blendmount since everyone says the RVM doesn't vibrate bad with it. Might just affix the V1 better to its mount.

NismoZ370 04-22-2012 07:23 PM

Has anyone tried the visor mount? It seems like a more discreet location.

moto_italia 04-22-2012 07:50 PM

I use the rear view mirror mount. Works great. No rattle or vibration issues. And it gets power from the rear view mirror.

I use the visor mount with my v1. Easy on and off i like it because i dont like to keep my v1 in the car when i park in public. Easy target

Sweet i think im going to go that route since it will be less noticeable for cops and thieves. How did you wire it? :pics:?

Unfortunately i just use the ugly wire to the lighter port currentl :/

NismoZ370 04-23-2012 07:02 PM

Thats what i dont want lol. I think im going to buy the one that fits into the center where the buttons would go for heated seats and run the cord threw the dash and up the pillar. It will take a while but be worth it in the long run.

Agree. Easy On and Off is important to me.

If you get pulled over for something, having a RD would cost you extra fine $$$.

And If you have a high end RD ($400-$500) it might save you from a broken window and another $$$ RD.

I bought an Invisicord:

http://invisicord.com/osc2/catalog/index.php?cPath=21

You dont even have to clip any wires if you have a Homelink Mirror.

never heard of this before?

radar detectors are illegal in DC and VA, but ive never been hassled by cops in MD.

Thechidz 04-23-2012 08:31 PM

Radar detectors are actually legal in most states except the very pro-government anti-freedom states like virginia and DC as someone else said

LakeShow 04-23-2012 11:56 PM

New to radar detectors, where is the optimal place to hang it for the best recognition and detection.

NismoZ370 04-24-2012 03:52 PM

Sorry for not making it clear, but this may sound funny to you :)
Here in CA we could get fined for putting a gps / mobil device and not limited to a radar detector on the wrong side of the windshield.

In this case having RD below on the mirror could be one of them. I would like to be able to clear my windshield asap when being pulled over to avoid additional fine :)

Best put in the middle of the window with a clear sight forward and back out both piece of glass the Z's roof falls off so i mounted min with the blend mount so right below the mirror.

HUH? lol

I've been pulled over plenty of times never hassled about the detector(also not for speeding), 9 times out of 10 they dont/wont notice it.

There's a company that sells a wiring harness in short lengths specifically for a mirror connection. They give u a wiring diagram for ur car. Search for it on this forum and if u don't find it send me a PM and I'll dig up my receipt.

You can legally have a passive detector, you can not have a scrambling device. Also a radar detector is not a cop detector.
