Double DIN install in Base System opening

Quick question:

Once the base stereo is pulled out do you need to have a bracket kit for the Double Din to fit to make it look as factory as possible????

Thanks,
Bryan

It really depends on the HU you are putting in, but most likey you won't need a bracket kit. I used some #10 washers to space my Avic forward about 1/4" to make it a little more flush.

So I'll take it no bracket required just some washers. I know a lot of you have double dins installed and only 1 reply. I really need this info before tear down.

Thanks,
Bryan

The kenwood DNX-6140 will fit right into the factory bracket. You won't need washers to space anything. Although the factory radio has four screws holding it in place on each side of the bracket, I was only able to get three screws in on each side of the head unit. The last hole was only off a little bit and the hole in the bracket could be elongated but I felt the three screws on each side was strong enough.

I am also doing a Kenwood install and agree only 3 per side. However, I am having large gaps around the HU and the bezel won't work with the stock climate control. I'll play with it some more tomorrow. How did your's look?
