NismoGT's Audio Install - iPad & Sundown Audio :)

Hi Guys,
I do a lot of research on this site but never post anything. Anywho, I am in the process of installing a new audio system in the car. The plan is for all new components and in iPad molded in the dash. The reason I am going for an iPad is because, not only can you play music and videos, you can navigate with it amongst the multitude of other apps/features. Can you say OBD-II diag?! Who knows what else?? The 3G model has assisted GPS that the regular WiFi model does not. I will be using an NuForce Icon iDo Digital-to-Analog converter for an audiophile-grade output from the iPad. It also has a digital coaxial. Audio gear lineup: Image Dynamics CTX65CS Components (1 set), Sundown SAZ-1000D Mono Block Amp (x1), Sundown Audio SAX-125.2 2-Channel Amp (x1), Sundown Audio SA-8 D4 (x2). I will be getting the iPad after I get things squared away with this new house.

I will write more later on tonight.

Cya :)

Short answer, yes. You can do OBDII. There are a few manufacturers that make Wifi (or Bluetooth) transmitters and you just have to get an app that works with them. I can't remember the names off the top, but I'm looking at doing it myself in the future.

I will probably go with DashCommand (Website & Video) app over the Innovate app. It seems like a much better system than Innovate Motorsports (Website). I just need to find the best dongle for OBDII scanning. Wifi vs. bluetooth. Responsiveness will likely be the deciding factor.

Update: I have installed the Image Dynamics component and let me tell you: THEY SOUND AMAZING!!! Its like having subwoofers in the doors. The tweeters are crystal clear and the soundstage is excellent. The digital to analog converter is awesome and puts the internal DAC of the iPhone/iPod/iPad to shame. I can't wait to mount the subs. My plan for mounting them is to fiberglass them between the shock tower and chassis brace on either side and aimed toward the ceiling. The chamber will be the void underneath the subs. I will mold the chamber using the piece of Styrofoam under the carpet. Any ideas if the should share a chamber or should I separate them? I have never fiberglassed before but it shouldn't be that hard, right.;)
