Advice on stock speaker replacement
so i need a little help on this one. all i want to do is replace my stock speakers. i dont plan on replacing the hu and do not want a sub. my question is would i need an amp if i replace the speakers? thanks for the help, much appreciated.

it would help a lot if you did add an amp.
|
thanks for the advice, looks like i'll be looking for an amp.

Rockford has a nice small amp that whould be awesome for you, PBR300x4.
|
A help, definitely, but not a necessity.
Although I'm all for upgrading any stereo system, it will sound just fine without an amp if you chose not to use one. Your best bet would be to install the speakers, and give it a listen, then decide. |

Honestly, from what I've been hearing and from my past experience with audio, you will get better sound leaving the stock speakers and replacing the HU, then changing the speakers and leaving the HU. The weak point of the factory system is the HU, not the speakers, which is the case for most cars with shitty systems.

bmarcinczyk14....all i can tell you is that i bought my Z with an upgraded headunit that puts out more watts than the stock HU and the sound quality, for me, is still bad.
I agree an upgraded HU will make the stock speakers sound better..just not great. |

Your best scenario is change the speakers and use an amp... Don't forget the subwoofer... You can get a Full system from us for $799.95 shipped to your door... "370Z Stage 1 system" Complete with Front speakers, Amplifier for fronts and subwoofer, Subwoofer enclosure and a Subwoofer...
If you do not want to get into all that I understand, But it really helps to have the full range of the sound spectrum in your car, reduces the risk of you blowing your doors speakers, because they will not be able to produce the sound you want in the low end by them selves. Wicked C.A.S.*::*MAGIC BOXES*::*Nissan*::*370Z Corner Stage1 Package. Stereo system JL AUDIO I can also put together a package for you with just speakers and a 2 channel amp... |

Wicked sounds like a good deal! Also check Sonic Electronics, they have great prices on everything. I bought my Pioneer double din nav unit for about 250.00 cheaper than anyplace else had it listed for.

+1 on HU swap. my Z's got plenty of exhaust tone already. dont need audiophile
|
The stock speakers are the worse I have ever seen in a vehicle. (and I have replaced many) I replaced my HU on the 3rd day of having my Z. The stock speakers were distorted and could not handle the extra power. I replaced them the next week. In your case, I would change the speakers first as Ron Rizz stated then go from there.

Sorry...i should have wrote my original question when i bumped this thread...see below.
Id like to change out my stock door speakers and tweeters with new ones. Anyone have suggestions on brands / models? Also, do I need an AMP? I have a Pioneer Nav/multimedia head unit (AVIC-Z110Bt). (Came with the car so i dont know much about it..like if its a good model or not). The manual says it has 22W*4 RMS and 50w * 4 Max power output. Thanks in advance! |

An amp would help the quality and how loud your new sepakers would be. Always look at the RMS not the MAX more about that in this sticky thread. http://www.the370z.com/audio-video/6...dio-101-a.html |
Thanks for the info bigaudiofanat. Back in the mid to late 90's i was pretty knowledge about what was decent on the market..i use to run Xmax subs, phoenix gold amps, alpine speakers and HU. (let me guess,,,those brands probably all suck now)
...i havent ever considered upgrading car audio again until now. so i have no idea what brands or models of speakers or amps are good now a days. thanks for your advice on Polk. ill check into them and continue my thread search. |
