2012 subwoofers
In the 2012, has anyone replaced the Bose 8" subs while keeping the factory enclosure? Yes, I am aware of amplification requirements.
If so, what did you replace them with? Or what would you recommend (they have to be shallow)? Thanks in advance. Bill |
Unless there has been a major change foe 2012 the "subs" are a pair of 4"...

Thanks 90ST-
I feel extremely dumb ... I don't know where I got the idea that there were 8"s in the back but considering that the "clam shell" sub enclosure fits in the spare rim, the geometry doesn't work out for dual 8"s (obviously, duh!). Audio (although not car audio) I understand, but I've only had my car for a few days and I do not know the car. From today's very brief inspection the 2012 has a sub "clamshell" enclosure with a port (looks like a nautilus shell) in one area on the side and what appeared to be roughly a .5" or so gap in the side (bottom) running around the circumference of the clamshell. I did not open the clamshell so I don't know the size of the drivers. I only inspected it for 1-2 minutes but that's sort of what they look like externally in the 2012. If interested, because its different than previous model years, I'll post some pictures tomorrow if interested. I am/was seeking a solution which maintained the appearance of a stock touring model while keeping the spare. So I was trying to keep within the form/fit factor of this clamshell. Is this possible? Is it possible considering I would like to preserve relatively easy access to the spare? Of course, the bolt would be shortened to hold the spare ... There is a very specific reason why i don't want a visible sub. Thanks for taking the time to respond. Bill |

Thanks for the lead...I've just been to their web site and I think this is exactly what I'm looking for. I'll be in touch with them Monday.
