Does iPod not have bluetooth? That's how I get music from my droid. Or maybe needs nav package for that to work?
|
Let me help you out...
Non navigation units don't have iPod hookups (just the 3.5mm jack). You need to either buy a module like the iSimple, or use the headphone jack in the front like the rest of us. |

My Z
I have a 2009 fully loaded... No bluetooth streaming which SUCKS!!! BUT since I have Nav, i have a cord which connects inside the center console (after you remove the cupholder you'll see the hookup)... Crappy part is that it doesn't charge my iPhone 4 or 4S and the stupid cord is like 9" long... And choosing a specific song through the stereo is a joke...

http://www.the370z.com/diy-section-d...a-gateway.html The iSimple interface is about $100. The model # for a 2011 Z w/Bose-NoNav is "PAC ISNI572". I installed mine in my '11 Touring No-Nav last week following the excellent write-up above. If you've never done anything like this before, it's pretty easy, but take your time and go slow, step-by-step. Now I just leave an old iPod Classic 80GB in my glovebox connected 24x7, and I always have access to my entire collection. It's a little slow to browse for a particular artist (or heaven forbid, a specific song... Playlists are your friend  ), and it may be causing a bit of XM weirdness (http://www.the370z.com/audio-video/4...xm-titles.html) but otherwise it's great. It charges my iPhone 4 and also even displays song & artist from Pandora, which is pretty sweet. Note, this DOES NOT enable Bluetooth Audio streaming. I think iSimple might sell some other add-on gadget to the interface that enabled that, but it's part of the iSimple gateway, not the car. |
So I just picked up my 2012 (tourning / nav) yesterday and am trying ot figure out the ipod. Looks like I can use a USB in the center console, but if I want to charge it, I'll need the adaptor (6th gen Nano). Okay. Got that far.
But I'm looking in the manual and it talks about streaming it via Bluetooth. Now, my Nano does not have bluetooth, but what if I got one that did? I've seen conflicting reports on here as to whether it works or not. It would be cool not to have to worry about plugging it in and all when i take it out of the car. Looks like a touch is bluetooth? |
Yup, only Bluetooth iPods are the iPod Touches (and the iPhones of course).
