Best Flip out Single din?

I want to upgrade the audio system in my '94 300zx. currently i have my nonfuctioning stock bose deck/speakers. Aside from speakers/amp/sub etc, i obviously will be upgrading the headunit. I'm trying to weigh my options as far as which type of unit to get (single, double, single din with flip out screen). Since ideally i'd like to get something with navigation it seems like double din or flip out is likely what will get. So what are some good units in the 500-1k price range. Single din flip out would probably be the easiest choice for me because, if you see my dash setup below, my gauges and stuff are all there and in order to fit a double din headunit i'd need to both relocate, and do some cutting/modifying of the center panel.

so yea, what are some good double din/single din flip out units with navigation/blutooth audio/ipod connectivity?

Thanks

One of my friends had an older pioneer flip up and it worked well, I honestly have been looking into some for my Silvia (have a similar setup with gauges below and need a bigger screen). It seems they are going away though with more cars supporting full double dins the idea of a flip up is not needed.
The one thing I have found is some have 'nav' options but you pay extra for an external unit which adds more to the cost.

yea i noticed that as well with the extra add ons. However, are the flip ups cheesy or do they feel flimsy at all or are they pretty solid?

The old one seemed a bit flimsy but was fairly strong.
The only thing about flip up is, will it be up 100% of the time, then why not just get the double din and rework the other gauges? Or just get a single din and forgo having the navigation.

I had a single din flip out nav system it was pioneer AVIC N-2, bought from best buy, it was a good unit, it finally pooped on me, and thats after having it serviced several times, luckily I had the warranty. If I could do it all over again, I woulda gone with a double din unit that has nav built in, look at the Kenwoods.

X2 on kenwood or alpine even a older eclipse

i think i might actually go with a single din after all, and just keep it single. I dont really need navigation in this car. So as far as single din options are concerned, what should i go with? right now i'm looking at these two... any others?

Alpine IDA-X305S

or the pioner mvh-p8200BT.

i was looking at that took. the KDC-X995. Does that have bluetooth and pandora etc already included? you don't need external accessories like on the alpine? How is the glare? it looks like from some reviews that glare is kind of an issue on that unit.

They are both good units, the alpine is going to give you more control over your ipod and iphone where they are made to control them. The kenwoods have a slower interface from what I have seen.

thanks Matt... hmm well since i will be primarily using my ipod through this, should i go with the alpine or the pioneer?

i sent you an email btw... what do you think i should go for as far as amp/speakers/sub. Im just looking for something that sounds good.... and tbh i'm the kind of guy that thought the bose system in the 370z sounded good enough. i'm not THAT picky... but obviously this 1994 bose crap isn't going to cut it.

or do i not actually need an amp?
