Guys, i am going to finally make the leap and not sure what system to get. Looking for advice from owners of the 2 systems.

I am leaning toward the Kenwood.

1, Kenwood Exelon 9980HD
2, Pioneer Z130BT

You will find most people hear will say Kenwood so will I.:hello:

I have a Kenwood w/nav and have never had a problem with it.

I have a Kenwood Excelon unit, and I looove it, they finally came around and made the user interface soooo so friendly, its about time!

OK, so in your opinions the Kenwoood is worth the $300 to $400 premium over the Pioneer? The price is my only real issue, just want to be sure.

I have gone to 6 local Car audio stores they are all pushing the Pioneer except for one. This is likely because of contracts they have with Pioneer. The 1 store that is not pushing the Pioneer also sells Alpine and Kenwood.

In order
1.Alpine
2.Kenwood
3.Pioneer

And yes the 9960-9980 whichever is top of the line now is worth it.

I use to have a few Pioneers, and I loved them for their ability to really customize your sound, but reliability issues pushed me to a Kenwood unit this time around.

xenogear81 11-26-2011 06:32 PM

I heard the kenwood has little delay when using the interface. So i went for pioneer.

TreeSemdyZee 11-26-2011 08:48 PM

I have had two Kenwoods and love(d) them both. I currently have the DNX9960 and love it big time.
Send a PM to Wicked CAS (sponsor on here). He (Nazar) is an authorized Kenwood dealer and will hook you up right. Tell him I (Brian Murphy) sent you.

I have yet to find out if the interface was like that, I've only had my unit in for a few weeks, but so far so good. I like it!

The alpine I just installed today. "W910" there is NO delay at all between doing anything.

I am not a pioneer fan at all and most people know this, I just see them having to many problems. I would go with alpine or Kenwood.

I have a Kenwood DNX 5640 and love it. I don't notice any lag and definitely recommend Kenwood. The navigation by Garmin is awesome as well.

Kenwood DNX9980HD Overview - YouTube

The lag i mention is when you hit on one of those menu, it take few second to go there. That video has an example of it. But everything else is great.

eastwest2300 11-27-2011 02:46 AM

Even if it does have a "lag" Kenwood still makes an excellent unit, just stayin..

I hadn't considered an Alpine, most of the audio stores I have been to are not selling Alpine. What Alpine would be considered the equivalent to the Kenwood 9980 and would you or anyone recommend it?

I can live with a few seconds. I am looking for easy to use NAV and a good audio system.

If you are looking for ease ofnusenwith the nav, the alpine omits carecters as you type an address in to help narrow down address and locations.

The kenwoods GPS is Garmin so they are nice as well.

eastwest2300 11-27-2011 06:37 PM

Me personally I'd go with the Kenwood with Nav, because it has the Garmin integration, you cant go wrong there.
