I have the Bose system. Should I go with one 10" or two?

The stock Bose system sounds pretty great actually. I just wanted a little more bass. I love the way the dual 10's look, but would that be too much bass?

Dual 10's hit pretty hard for such a small car. I would suggest a single 10" subwoofer and 500watts RMS.

i have 2-10's pushing 500 watts rms each in my Z. Love the sound, hits really hard. I have the gain knob installed on a blank switch on the center console just for when i want to turn them down or up.

I too wanted just a little more bass than the stock Bose. Actually, if you take that thing apart, you'll find two little measly paper 4" drivers in it.

I did one 10" Pioneer shallow sub and wouldn't even consider have 2 of them! I actually wish I would've gotten an 8", because my custom spare tire box ended up having not enough cubic space as recommended. It's fine after adding some poly fill, but it actually sounded a little weird/off beforehand without the poly. Putting in a 8" in the same box would probably sound better overall than this 10"...but I'm content, because it "hits" just enough for my tastes, and more than the stock Bose.

Does anybody have the Bose system along with two 10" subs?

edconline 09-11-2011 05:56 AM

I have the stock Bose as well, and want to add either one or two 10's. (to replace the bose 'subwoofer') However, how did everyone wire it in? I'm assuming that you can't just take the input from the bose sub for the new one as the bose signals from the HU generally are processed to hell. Are people using the RF 3 Sixty or equiv to get a clean signal for the sub?

Re-q mostly

I had no idea the Bose even had a subwoofer. What are the specs on it?

bigaudiofanat 09-11-2011 07:41 PM

4 inch woofers in a big plastic container LOL

NickBaragona 09-11-2011 07:59 PM

Haha sounds pretty high tech. I'm assuming its hidden away behind one of the seats?

Waffles 09-11-2011 08:18 PM

They sit in the spare tire under the trunk's floor.

I forgot to ask, is it as simple as swapping out the bose subs with new ones? I guess I will need a new amp as well, right? I will be taking it to a shop for the install, I just want to make sure its possible to swap out the bose subs for two of my choice.

bigaudiofanat 09-13-2011 10:22 AM

No you will need a re-q a new amp and a new sub.

An LC2i from Audio Control works better and is cheaper...

Also i went with 2 10's.

Looks like dual 10's it is! Is Zenclosure the best way to go as far as a box?
