3 12's

ok so i want to install 3 12 in subwoofers. i just dont know how i should set them up. any suggestions? i was thinking of having all 3 against the rear facing forward with the two outer subs angled in a little bit

shaun66 07-06-2011 01:20 AM

Why so many? lol

chuckd05 07-06-2011 01:29 AM

what do you plan to do to your interior speakers? 3 12's is beyond overkill in the Z....

I just ordered one 6 inch bazooka bass tube to stow away in hatch area in front of you spare.... I couldnt imagine 3 12's lol...

bigaudiofanat 07-06-2011 05:54 AM

Forgive me but I agree overkill and stupid I mean come on

Scubasteve 07-06-2011 03:48 PM

I know its over kill but I like my bass plus it would def be original I mean I have the subs and amp just done know how I wanna set it up

bigaudiofanat 07-06-2011 05:52 PM

Two is overkill in a car the size of the z. Three may even break the trunk lid but hey whatever you want. These kinds of systems I just shake my head at.

TWYNBYZ 07-06-2011 06:09 PM

Despite it being overkill, use the link below:

Subwoofer Wiring Diagrams

This will help you select the correct configuration for the subs (ie...SVC vs DVC and OHM ratings) in addition to how they should be wired to your amp. Good luck.....

PS...... I run two 8's and it hits hard and clean. Just do a single high quality 12 inch sub. Your money would be better spent on a quality HU, amplification, components and processing. JMHO.......

Oh..I'd appreciate some rep for the link......:)

Well I have the subs and amp already and I do know know how to hook them up I don't know how I wanna position them.

RekeHavoc 07-07-2011 01:17 PM

Position 1 of them in a zenclosures box. Position the other 2 on eBay.

are you wanting to keep the spare tire?

Scubasteve 07-07-2011 01:37 PM

no spare tire..

Brutal 370Z 07-07-2011 01:41 PM

lol 3 12s!!!! You won't even be able to hear the words to a song...just bass. I think you might even be looking at damage to rear hatch. My buddy had 2 12s in his 2004 BMW 3-series, and he has some damage to trunk lol. I can't even imagine 3

Yep I have seen two 12's crack a rear hatch in a SUV from bass.

That gives you all sorts of possiblities then, lots of room with out the spare and foam. i would look at all 3 facing up at the very back of the car, amps further forward, more towards the brace.
However i'll be a sheep too, and say that is a LOT of bass for a Z, i would just do 2! LOL

Scubasteve 07-07-2011 03:54 PM

Lol I have no worries on damage lol but I'll make sure to post the decible levels once I get it all done

:rofl2: I KNEW that was what you were doing this for. You would fit right in over at caraudio.com with all the other bass heads.

vividracing 07-07-2011 06:08 PM

Create a false floor. I haven't done an install on a Z yet, but I'm sure you could get at least 2 in the spare tire well, probably all 3.

Aim the woofers at the glass. It'll bounce all that bass right up to the mic on the dash :) Hatchbacks/fastbacks are awesome for that reason.

"Stupid" really that's your best choice of words! Do what makes you happy. I would do two down firing and one up.

Scubasteve 07-08-2011 12:42 AM

thank you for that. i bought it all a lil while ago but just been getting advice from people so i expand my imagination on what i can do.. i do like that im asking for advice and some people are just calling me stupid for wanting to do something that I want to do.. i mean forums are for us people to share ideas and what not right? not to discourage people from doing what they think might be kinda cool

90 ST 07-08-2011 01:19 AM

i think someone on here has pics of a 3 10 set up, might be worth a look around for it.

I agree with this, so you can hear more of one of them, and feel the other 2.

It depends on the speakers. Not all are created equal. I would love to see 2 road masters beak anything but themselves. If you rub some lower level RF punch 1's then there shouldn't be any worries. 3 Sundown nightshades or RE XXX's and you may want to prexxy glass that rear hatch and install another altornator. I am betting the if somebody is going to run a system like that they already know the complications of their fun.

What speakers are you running?

CBRich 07-10-2011 05:43 PM

I would go with a custom fiberglass enclosure curved from one strut location to the other sort of like a semi-circle. One sub in the middle and one on each side all pointing into the center of the circle and angled slightly up.

sonic370 07-10-2011 08:09 PM

i guess to each his own. good luck with the install. please post pics would like to see final install......

but i think in some cities you would be illegal on the street

shaun66 07-10-2011 10:33 PM

Look on youtube theres a 370z with 3 10's
