Head Unit & DSP

I had this Alpine stored away a few years ago & it was a top of the line model
so with the space left I added a Pioneer DSP EQ, it makes a good fit & combination but with all these 7" touch screens around I feel a bit old school with this setup.

It would have been nice to see a PXA-H700 or Pxa-H701 under that Alpine. Brings me back memories. That head unit is from 2002 I believe.

What is a PXA-H700 or H701 like, are they older units from the era? Just curious, and your right it is a 2002 unit, I came into the store in 2004/05 looking around saw what Alpine was offering those years and didn't care for the 04/05 units so I only paid 75.00 for this 600.00 head unit. I kept it in storage then pulled it for the Z.

I always appreciate your comments towards audio and I guess you can understand my situation with this stored unit and having to make it work for my application. I'm not sure if I understand "props" if you could explain. I love good audio thanks

That is pretty much the Alpine version of your pioneer eq.
It is still a very popluar model among enthusiast it has the ability to run an avctive system in th efront of the car with crossovers and parametrix eq built in.

here is what it looks like. I just found this on google image search.

I love it, never seen one, is it 2003-2004 vintage? I would have easily took that over my pioneer. My other car is running the same head unit but I'm using a Kenwood analog EQ; the 1/2 din 9 band with parabolic, there is still some good sounding audio out of these older analog units. I will post a picture of it this week.
