Cheap bass

Normally I don't go the cheap route but after spending near $1000 on my NISMO to get a new radio, 4 front speakers, XM, steering wheel controls, etc; I still basically don't have bass. There's a little but not enough.

The stock 10" sub that was in my Cobalt was perfect. Being that that was a coupe that had rear seats and a trunk, I figure that a good 8" sub would suffice for the Z.

What would be the best and most cost worthy method of getting bass into my Z?

I listen to a lot of electronic music, and other types of music as well and they all require bass lol.

Thank you for your posting!

Try the 8" and see if its to your liking. If i put a sub in my Z, id go with an 8 or pair of 8's... I would think when it comes to bass, its about preference as long as its not overpowering the mids' and high's...

The problem with being on the cost effective side is you typically give up sound quality...

Yeah but what I meant also, I was hoping to find something relatively inexpensive <$200. And I've been trying to find sub/amp combos that are slim or small and can fit either behind the seat or in the trunk or near the spare wheel.

hmmnnn yea not sure. Im the type that would rather save up a bit and get a higher quality. I mean, there are tons of speakers out there, im sure you could find something cheap, used,...whatver and then fit that into a box of some sort...

Less than $200 for sub, box and amp might be hard though... good luck!

Yeah I'm not looking for a medium or large amount of bass. I just want the bass that a set of 6x9's would normally produce. But since we dont have that option in the Z, I figured I would find an alternative, that fits nicely and doesn't get in the way of anything.

look into a bazooka tube. I think Mike ran one on his Z, and was able to hide it under the rear deck, behind the strut bar.

I run 2 8's in my Z and I love the sound. Not too much, not too little. Goes well with a set of components.

What are you trying to get more mid bass or more low bass like in rap songs? If you are trying to get more a 200 dollar solution is not going to very well cut it.

If you are looking for even something similar to your cobalt i would stay away from bazooka tubes, there great for jeeps and things like that but a solid bass note is not going to come out of one of them compared to a sealed sub. "Sorry boost just not a fan of them USE to be when I did not know about sound quality" I would save up and either amp your speakers you have if mid bass is what you are after or, if its low than save 500-600 and get a single 8 or even a 10 if you want some head room and a amp. Just keep in mind once you add a sub your speakers might be the next thing you look at because the sub could make everything else seem....quiet.

I'll sell mine for 200. It's a track only car now.

Pics installed?

I'm really just looking for more bass then I have now. I don't want to be rumbling the damn street with bass from rap songs. I just want to add bass to the spectrum that my current component speaker setup isn't giving me enough of. When I turn up the bass all of the way, the 6.5's give out. Not meaning they stop working, they just can't handle too much bass from my new headunit.

Would your bazooka come with the amp you used to power it?

I'm just looking for a solution that would add more bass to my current setup and even out the current overpowering of the mids and highs. My other goal with this is to not sacrifice space being that the Z is already short on that.

Just checked out crutchfield; saw this: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_204BTA8...00.html?tp=114
Is this a 8" bazooka tube that has a built in amp?? If so, this would be perfect.

That might be the one, but I think mine is 6.5". I either have pics in a thread in the audio section, or in my journal thread, but I'm on the track today using my iPhone , so it's hard to link

I'll take yours possibly, I saw the thread. Will it come with everything I need to hook up directly to my aftermarket radio?

You will need RCA and some power lines as I don't really are to take the radio out at this time, but other than that you will be good. I'll even give you the modified foam pieces for the sides.

So all I need to make this happen is:

RCA cable
Power wire
Ground wire

Correct?

To make it work I just plug it into the RCA in the back of the HU and find a way to get it into a power line and get it grounded?
