Phone Setup with Blutooth
OK - So I got a phone, turned on BluTooth, connected it to My Car, then i try to make a call...
The nice lady asks for a command: I say CALL then she asks me to say a name, so i do... then COMMAND NOT RECOGNIZED it seems that the phone book is empty... BUT, when i try the dial a number option, then it repeats the Name of the person i am dialing from my contact list.... How do I get it to recognize my contact list as the phone book? tia... |
Maybe I didnt understand your question, but I dont think there's a way to "upload" your contacts from the phone directly into "the car". From what I understood, you need to record the name+number of your contacts, one by one, by saying it to the "setup" lady...
Which is annoying. My other car (A4) shows me the contact list in the dash, without me having to do anything other than stepping into the car. |
There is an option under the phone menu or bluetooth one that allows you to transfer your address book from your phone to the car. Have you done that?

Tried. Didnt work. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?
I have a Blackberry Bold. What's the "path" that I should tell the Setup Lady to get the car "ready" to receive the contacts' list from the phone? |
Have you looked at the compatability Bluetooth phone document on nissanusa under the owners the documents section? Some phones don't have that capability. That might be the problem. My blackberry won't transfer the address book, but it could be my security settings (work phone). Try checking that compatability list.

Your car may not recognize your particular brand of phone's contact list.
On my iPhone, it will recognize my entire address book - no need to upload it to the car HOWEVER, I have to say the name in reverse, as in "SMITH JOHN". so next time, when it wants a name, try that...last name first. |
thanks guys, i'll check the compatibility list - but the phone is brand new - Samsung Charge... so probably not in the list
|
OK, so I found my BB Bold Verizon (I know, I know) is compatible with the car. Great. From the set-up instructions/guide on NissanUSA though, it seems I need to say the name of the contacts one by one, so it can upload the phone number. Is this right? I have like, 100 contacts in my phone.
People passing on the street will think I'm crazy talking to my car for like, one hour?!?... |
Just because the phone works doesn't mean that it will access that phone's address book. My old Blackberry Curve would make and receive calls just fine in my wife's Murano but it wouldn't have anything to do with its address book.

I have a samsung vibrant and bluetooth will only recognize numbers i have saved to the phone. If the numbers are on the sim card the z doesn't recognize them.
