More beers = more time for the install... Mine took about 4 hrs and alot of beer

Also, if you spray the speaker wires with wd40, EVOO or KY (any lube will do) it will make running them through the door easier. I had to use a coat hanger to fish the drivers side through.

What makes the install a few hours? It's 4 speakers and a crossover? I've pulled off door panels before. The only thing I am unfamiliar about from this whole install would be the crossover because I have never bought a setup like this before. Normally I either upgrade just the speakers or do a whole install with speakers, subs,HU,the amp, etc.

Is there anything special about the crossover or is it just hook up and go? Nevermind, Google just answered that question. Just splits the connection so the tweeters won't get pwned.

Its the feeding wires through the door gromet that takes time...and the reason why I haven't had the time to put my set in. Im doing mine when I get a new HU next time. :)

This setup: Amazon.com: Polk Audio DB6501 6.5-Inch 2-Way Component System (Pair, Silver): Electronics

The tweeters are way smaller than factory sized tweeters. Why did anyone recommend this? What size are our ACTUAL tweeters so I can get the right sized ones. These come with 1" tweeters, I need 2" don't I? Can I get a relatively cheap mount to put on the 1 inchers?

Just make a custom mount out of wood, plastic, or do what i did and cut up a hard back cover of a book. The stock tweeter bracket is part of the tweeter itself. Any component speakers you install will need a mounting plate for the tweeters. Its not difficult.

to make mine, i found a hard back old college book and traced the stock tweeter bracket. Then used the mounting cup for the new tweeter as a template for the tweeter.

You will need use the supplied tweeter mounting cup, tweeter, mounting bracket(abs, wood, cardboard, ect). As far as the cardboard goes, as long as it is able to hold the tweeter in place, i think your fine.

pop off the tweeter cover and take a look, you will see what in talking about.

Oh I know what you're talking about. I've been looking around the house for a plastic piece or something hard to put there. This shouldn't be hard. Dremel will be helpful.
