JL 600/4 HD amp

How does the front speakers sound with this amp?

A.J@CarbonSignal 04-24-2011 02:26 PM

Nice job...;)

Great job! The stereo install looks so clean!

Are you able to still use the audio controls on the steering wheel?

747ifly 04-24-2011 04:26 PM

Thanks and thanks. Just got done yesterday so... was a little excited. These speakers sound great!! I also have them in my 4runner. So, I really like them. They sound great on the JL HD amp. Maybe there is a better sounding amp out there?? but they sound damn good! There is some fine tuning to do still. I have been piecing it together for a while now. And, oh yes, steering wheel controls work with ASWC. You just have to program it manually. Been playing with the settings and crossover points and so forth. Pretty happy so far. May have weighed it down a bit...lol. But, the hushmatting really helped quiet the ride down.

Hey nice setup! I was looking to install the same head unit in my Z and wanted to find out what all you need to make the install look so clean. I will do all the work myself, so other than the headunit (pioneer avic-z130bt), the steering wheel adapter (Axxess ASWC), and a ipod/iphone connector cable (Pioneer CD-IU51V) what else did you need to install the headunit. Did you buy any wire harness adapter to integrate with the stock antenna? What about any dash kit, or mount kit to make it fit and lock in there snuggle and flush with the dash trim.
My plan is to start with just the headunit for now, then down the road add component speakers, maybe some Focal or Alpine, an amp to power them, and maybe a rear view camera too, but until then i need the Pioneer unit to work with the stock speaker setup (non Bose option for me) so i need a speaker adapter at least and wasn't sure where to order that other than Crutchfield. So any help or advice you can lend would be awesome, thanks!

Looks nice, I hope you got a good deal on that JL gear. Call me in the next build.

Thanks everyone for the props. I hit the stereo pretty hard everyday for at least 45 minutes in the morning and at night. Driving to work and back! Actually I have mounted the tweeters through the dash panel now. They sound better!! If needed you could always replace the one small panel that covers the factory tweeters. Still love it!

eastwest2300 12-02-2011 12:35 AM

You did the install?

Where in the dash panel? Did you relocate the tweeter from the factory location?

Yes, I did all of the work. I mounted the tweeter through the grill so it isn't hindered by it. That's all. The iphone cradle works great!

eastwest2300 12-03-2011 04:03 PM

Excellent job man!

Tweeter mounts

I installed my Boston pros tweeters in the top front of my doors right at ear level, I tried the windshield/dash mount and lost some direct response.

Hey guys, how do you reduce the size of attached images, mine or always too big, is there a way to reduce the size?

eastwest2300 12-05-2011 12:16 AM

I like how you mounted those tweeters, VERY sharp!

747ifly 12-06-2011 08:28 PM

Yep, your tweeter mounts look nice. It is definitely a different sound from the two mounting locations. Reflecting them off the windshield gives more center fill. But mounting them in the doors gives better stereo effect and direct line of hearing. I have done both in other cars...lol. Not this time! One set this time!

eastwest2300 12-06-2011 10:08 PM

How did you mount the tweeters in the doors?

haitech 12-07-2011 04:00 AM

I would guess either cutting a hole for the tweeter or silicone it to that piece of plastic

Bug Eye Mount

1 Attachment(s)
Its called a Bug Eye Mount & I first started using it on my 97 WS6 after moving & replacing the type of tweeter, Wow what a difference it made. I tryed these tweeters indash on my buick regal & they were only OK, then I moved them to the front corners of the door & added a analog EQ & it sounded so much better, I knew the 370 would get this mount, but this time I'm using a Digital Sound Processor. Most high end tweeters have this optional mount; these are Boston 6/12 Pros.

eastwest2300 12-10-2011 11:58 PM

The Sound processor is on the bottom and the deck is on top, I had a sound processor like this a long time ago. It looks good bro.

747ifly 01-31-2012 07:51 PM

By the way, I am selling this whole stereo setup. I got rid of the Z. :( Had to make a sacrifice for the future! I didn't have it paid off. Needed an SUV. I loved that car!!!
So... blah, blah, blah... all the stereo equipment you see in the pics is up for sale. If anyone lives close and wants the sub box and all the trim panels let me know.
