no more blind spots

I put the Kenwood cmos300 backup camera on my Z. Hooked it up on the Pioneer avicz130bt. It does give a fisheye effect which some people don't like. But, this is do to the VERY wide view it gives!! It has multiple views So, no more blind spots!! It's amazing. So, while highway driving it helps out so much when changing lanes! I made a video of it but can't seem to get it uploaded. In the one view, it gives a split screen looking left and right. This truly is the best view for driving down the road. I leave it on most the time. In traffic you can see if someone is in your blind spot. I mean, your old blind spot!

Pics of your mount?

I've got the same camera and I have had to move its position once already and am thinking of moving it again to optimize the positioning.

Can't wait to get mines, and mount it up. WOOT WOOT

Is the image of sufficient resolution while driving?

Man sounds awesome. I was debating on getting a backup cam on my 120BT because of the split screen view. I decided against it to save a little dough. Anyway, I bet your configuration is friggin nice.

Where did you mount the rear backup camera on the rear bumper cover?

You have to hook the camera's power line to a switched power source instead of hooking to the backup lights like a lot of people have done. I've got the Kenwood DNX9960 and I can hold the "AUD" button and the camera turns on.

Resolution is good enough to see a car there or not. The cam is a funny view anyways with the fisheye effect. But, in order to see almost 190 degrees or something, of course it is. And, yes you can turn your cam on while driving. As long as your camera is hooked up on ignition or accesory. You only hook reverse to your head unit. Then, it will automatically switch when put in reverse. Or, you can just turn it on while driving to see backward. Mounted the camera centered and far to the back. Maybe not the cutest spot for it. But, definitely the spot it works best. It is always nice when you can see the edge of the bumper and it is positioned just for this. Just watch out mounting it with the trunk buttons and the license plate lights.Attachment 27229

If I hard wire the camera to a constant power source, am I killing the camera's life? Just wondering what the best option to use the camera while driving. Nothing like getting the guys face expression after you smoked him. LOL jkn...

Rear Cam Resolution

Just curious,
Does the picture image breakup while driving at speed?

hort answer. Yes. If you have it hardwired so that it is on all of the time, then it will shorten the camera life. If you have a HU, like the Kenwood DNX9960, which allows you to turn the camera on and off, it works very well.

The image is like any other digital camera of that resolution. When you're moving, you really can't tell what you're looking at anyway because of the speed.
The image is pretty good, it's just that everyything is flying by quite rapidly.

This is wrong on any relevant scale. The electrical lifespan of these cameras is not a factor here. Would you worry about the sensor in your home video camera burning out? Not in your own lifetime.

If YU left your home video camera on all of the time, yes it would wear out. Rapidly.

No your video camera will be fine. I have hooked them up that way for ten years. Use a switched power source, not constant power. Ignition or accessory. Myself and every other installer that I have worked with hook back up cams up this way. So, anyways, IMO it is not a worry.
At speed the camera is only slightly more fuzzy than standing still.
