Need help after install!

My AC controls and entire center dash doesnt light up any more. Fuse? if so which one. The rectangle that says the radio station and everything still lights up though.

I recently took out my stock bose head unit and put in an after market one but put the factory one back in to see if it fixed the dash and a/c lights.

Check the fuses first, real easy to check them visually. Then check your plugs to make sure you put everything back together, and they are actually making a good connection.

Probably something you overlooked, Keep It Simple to Start with then work to the more difficult problems. If you did blow a fuse then re-check your wiring connections, maybe you grounded out the illumination circuit.

It's probably a plug that you missed. Check fuses first then check for missing plugs like Juleous suggested. Similar things happen with the 350z when you forget to plug in the AC controls after working behind the center console.

I checked the plugs and everything is plugged in except for the 2 plugs that only plug into the factory stereo. (I put back in my pioneer 4300) I blew an audio fuse but replaced it and have found no other blown fuses unless there are some fuses somewhere I dont know about.

Which wire is for illumination in the factory harness?

What was the blown fuse for, that's my first clue of a problem? Follow that, what was it for? What could have also popped as a result? Fix the problem that caused the fuse to blow, before powering up and blowing more fuses. Go into the fuse box and look for a popped fuse somewhere, it should be odvious. Read the inside fuse box cover, check all the fuses for A/C and Radio etc. I have not had to look at the fuse block to see what wire is for what or what fuse is for what. The illumination circuit would be for more then just the A/C controls, the dash and stuff plus your radio would not light up either.

found the hidden fuse box behind the battery. my tail lights happened to be out too and this was associated with the a/c lights. anyways the tailight fuse was blown.

Good find, I wonder why the blowing fuses? Did you make sure to remove the negative battery terminal when doing any wiring? Atleast you saved yourself a dealer visit.:ughdance:

I didnt remove the negative the first time I took out my head unit and thats probably what blew the fuses. I wonder why the main fuse box is not listed anywhere in the manual.. Glad the car is back to normal now though.

Lesson to all Z owners, remove the GROUND when doing any kind of wiring changes in the Z. Save yourself a CEL light in the process also.

Where is the ground wire?
