I have been looking at these, they look really really good quality.

Why not go 2 ohm, this would give me more head room on my amp?

If you haven't bought anything just yet, please do yourself a favor and listen to the HSK165XL by HERTZ AUDIO. Make sure they turn off the subwoofer when they demo th espeakers and the amplifier is either flat or about 30HZ or 40HZ Hi-pass. You need some clean power to listen them with but they are amazing.

You can go 2 ohms as long as your amp can run at that.

I finally finished the HU replacement, and now the Polk DB's sound way better. The midbass response is a ton better than before, confirmed changing out the Bose HU increases the sound quality by a lot. So much for factory integration, granted the RE-Q is no awesome unit but I didn't think the difference would be that huge.

Props to the DB's for thumping their little hearts out.

Ya great bang for the buck I will say that about them.

What's the advantages/disadvantages of this speaker in a 2 Ohm vs. 4 Ohm?

Can you run these speakers off a double din Kenwood H.U. and still sound ok or is a amp required?

bigaudiofanat 02-15-2011 05:28 PM

You can no run the 2 ohm ones off a head unit the 4 ohm ones you can. The 2 ohm ones you can run off a amp and get a bit more power depending on the amp.

I have listen to these speakers in a local audio store but was not impressed. The room and speaker display may not have been optimumized so, I'll try again. What is the minimum power requirement? Let me know if a amp is required or whether a Kenwood double din HU could adequately power these speakers in the short term. PM back a price with/without an amp. Compared with Focal K2 speakers, my impression is that the Hertz speakers high frequencies were not as brilliant soundwise.

Thanks.

I am not trying to start anything here. If you can't run 2ohm on a HU then why did Infinity change the Kappa series to 2ohm. This is a quote from crutchfield.com Infinity Kappa 62.9i 6-3/4" 2-way car speakers For 6-1/2" and 6-3/4" openings at Crutchfield Signature

Important Note: These Infinity Kappa speakers use a low impedance design to pull more power safely from your car stereo or amplifier. This design is compatible with virtually all factory and aftermarket stereos

These components kick ***! Probably the best value for dollar around I would say, ordering myself up a set ASAP. Plus getting the 2 ohm option will push my Punch amp a little harder with 225 watts rms going to the fronts. Lot's of nice clean power should give these the love they deserve.

Props to Matt for the suggestion, nice man.:tiphat:

If you want the best bang for your buck I would recommend RE Audio. I have some JL ZR's getting installed this weekend which I have heard are really good. Focal is good too.
