370z Aftermarket Audio

I couldn't afford the Bose 8 Speaker equip with the touring model, and I have a feeling I'm not going to be satisfied with my base model when it arrives.:ughdance:

What are your thoughts on the sound that it comes with on the base model?
- Crisp?
- Bass?
- iPod Friendly?

I used to work at Best Buy, and I know how the Infinitys sound like. And I know I would want to replace what it has in there with those.

I know bestbuy.com can't be the only popular website for audio stuff. and frankly, I don't want to get subwoofers from them. what is another reputable company/website for car audio?

thanks

You probably wouldn't be happy with Bose either, a lot of people went with aftermarket speakers.

SoGenius 01-07-2011 09:34 AM

What are some reputable names in audio?

I only know about

- Infinity
- Alpine
and
- Kicker

Honestly, your best bet is to read through the threads in the Audio/Video section.... you can also see what set-ups other people went with and how much they spent.

This thread is going to be moved to that section anyways as soon as a moderator gets online.

I got tired of my Base stereo already and it has been 2 months...

I've already replaced the speakers with a set of Alpine Type S components and it alone has made a world of difference. An Alpine iDA x305s is coming soon along with a stealth Bazooka 6.5" 250w sub then it will be all I need.

kenchan 01-07-2011 10:51 AM

ive seen someone here post up a very clean invisible bazooka install. pretty cool.

i saw it over in the audio section though.

I absolutely HATED my base system. I could barely hear the thing and forget about listening to it with the windows open. I couldn't believe the size of the magnet in the door speakers. Honestly, it's pitiful the systems that car companies put in their cars.

Same is true for the 10's. The magnets were the smallest I've ever seen. I replaced them with Pioneers.

kenchan 01-07-2011 04:01 PM

^^ yep, im going to swap out the door sp's this year to some polks once it gets warm. :p

sonic370 01-07-2011 07:50 PM

The base system is the worse i have ever heard in a car such as the 370.

my wife's rouge sounds better.. took me about 2 weeks to jerk it out....

the audio section has all you need to know...

chops 01-07-2011 09:36 PM

agreed with all of the above. i couldnt even hear the damn thing with the windows open. and what magnet? haha...when i ripped those things off the magnet probably had enough strength as a fridge magnet

Nope. I tried to put mine on my fridge and it fell off. Not kidding. :icon14:

sonic370 01-08-2011 07:15 PM

Baer383 01-08-2011 07:59 PM

I had a Bose system and replaced everything in the first month:tup:

SoGenius 01-09-2011 11:37 AM

What size are the speakers and where are they located?

Tweeters in the door right?

TreeSemdyZee 01-09-2011 11:43 AM

6 1/2 in door. Tweeters on top of dash. 3 1/2 in rear

Check out Woofersetc.com the online car audio super store, the largest selection at the lowest prices!. They have pretty good prices for the quality they carry. Most on here recommend component sets. I am running Infinity Kappa's in the doors w/ stock tweeter and HU. I did this swap the 3 days of ownership. I am still debating if I want to invest in a component set. I guess I will set want it sounds like once I am done. I am going to install a 12in sub and amp everything once I get the speaker box.

Ikesound.com has good prices too but isn't a authorized dealer. The warrenty is through the site. It is were I got my infinities that are in the doors. they are legit.

SoGenius 01-10-2011 10:04 AM

Woofersect.com is legit enough for me. You've made my day with this post, I've been looking all over their website. I get a discount at Best Buy, but this website already beats everything they carry.

I don't want to deal with website warranty unless I see some proof they are legit :( Checking out IKEsound now.

Everyone else, thanks for the responses. I know what speakers to look for now because of yous. Thanks again.
