I should amend my post: I DID still have to hack into the vehicle harness for reverse lights connection, since that is NOT present in the OEM radio connector. I expect you will have to do the same.

Thanks Turbodog! That's what I needed. Where did you find that? I'm going do like you suggested: slide out one of the rear speaker pins and re insert it to connect to the VSS. I have a few questions. Which wire does the VSS connect to on the Kenwood harness? and on the ASWC which wires would go to STRG SW A and STRG SW B?

Well, if you looked at the diagram turbodog posted, you could clearly see pin 18, yellow is the correct wire for VSS, pin 6, pink, is STRG A and pin 16, Lime?, is STRG B. Do you not have a photo or manual with the ASWH?

I asked which wire does the VSS wire connect to on the Kenwood Harness. I was thinking that the VSS wire connects to the HU's wire harness. I figured this is how the HU knows the vehicle is moving. So if someone knows thats great, let me know. None of the labels on the Kenwood harness say VSS or anything to do with vehicle movement or speed. I can read the illustration. (if I was at home) When I got home I did look at the ASWH illustration. Weeee is correct, exept pin 16 is blue not lime.

I just downloaded the Kenwood installation manual :

It does not mention a VSS connection. Probably why you don't see a wire to connect to. It uses the parking brake switch wire to determine if the car is in motion for safety regulation compliance.

Thanks again Turbodog. If thats the case then I don't need a switch at all. All I need to do is permanently ground the Parking Brake wire. Now I need to find out for sure if that is truly the case.

You really need to read the install and owners manuals. My Pioneer requires the parking brake to go on-off-on before it will enable video. Simply grounding the parking brake wire would not have worked for me.

Backup Cam Reverse Signal Locations
 

I have been reading around quite a bit about rear camera install and have heard some different options available for tapping into the reverse signal....

I know there are reverse signal wires in both the trunk area as well as the driver side kick panel.

But then ive seen people mention that some of the 370z models have one right in the cubby hole behind the head unit. The few times ive read about it i have seen people mention it is only in z's with auto transmission. I have a 2013 sport package non bose 6spd MT. Can anyone with a manual tranny comment on this?

If there is a signal behind the HU im good to go...otherwise i gotta run a longer line elsewhere because the Pioneer harness comes with a purple reverse wire that is about 4 inches long.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, on a side note. Ive read a million different comments on the E-brake video bypass. Anyone have a method with a pioneer double din that i wont need a switch for?

Most important question is the reverse signal but again, any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: the e-brake bypass. I'm sure one could wire their own, but honestly the best option I've found was ebay. It was <$15, works like a charm, and was smaller than the relay I had laying around.
