oh and while we're on the topic of amps, id suggest this little guy:

Al & Ed's Autosound - JL Audio XD700/5 Full-Range, Class D 5 Channel Amplifier

its the size of a book and will output 300 clean watts to a sub, and 200 watts to the components i listed above. if you're going with the 10W3V3, might as well keep it in the family ;)

I can not say I recommend the same as JL is way overpriced for what you get from them almost like hype they put on there products. Even though they are good products I see money spent better with other brands. Just my opinion.

Right on alpines website

Alpine Electronics of America, Inc.

Overview

Class-D
1/2 Channel Operation
Stackable Installation Design
RMS Power (at 14.4V THD+N, 20-20kHz)

Per channel into 4 ohms: 75W x 4 (0.08% THD)
Mono channel into 2 ohms: 300W (20-200Hz)

well then, i wasnt aware that this amp could do both 2 and 4 ohm simultaneous operation. i dont mess with 5 channel amps often, so i assumed they were similar to 4 channels, in that if you run any channels at 2ohm, then the rest will run at 2ohm.

anyway, either way, if you go with a 2 ohm or 4 ohm 10W3V3 it will get 300 watts regardless, so to the OP, buy whatevers cheapest.

as for JL, i agree that they are overpriced, but you cannot beat their efficiency in most cases. the XD700/5 retails for 599, versus the PDX5 which retails for 649. the XD700 on al & eds comes with a full manufacturer warranty for 450 versus a grey market PDX5 on amazon for 400...i would honestly go for the JL model, as its smaller, and has more power with a warranty

@chops, the JL you suggest is $445 lowest I Google'd while the PDX-5 is $345 lowest I Google'd, so we're talking about a $100 difference, not $50.

While I am not a fan of either, if I HAD to choose one, it would reluctantly be the JL. Regardless of coverage or the likes (since it seems this is an internet purchase regardless) the PDXs are some of the noisiest, horrific sounding amplifiers I have had the unfortunate time to touch or install.
