XM Subscription

So.... has anyone purchased a subscription? Or will you purchase after your trial? I got a call today from XM because my subscription will expire soon, they offered 90 more days for $20.97. I thought that was pretty good for 3 more months. I just have to remember to cancel after the 90 days. But anyway...if you're interested in a subscription just wait until your trial is about to expire and get the 90 day deal.

AK370Z 03-20-2009 02:07 PM

I have base but I had xm before. You're right, they offer you so much deals when you call them to either discontinue or cancel subscription. one year ago, they actually offered me $4/month for 12 months if I stay with them because I told them I am going with Sirius. Now that's a crazy deal.

Nikon FM 03-20-2009 02:13 PM

I like the XM traffic feature that integrates quite well with the Nav.....an additional $4 a month in addition to the basic subscription fee.......nickles and dimes.

Anatoray 03-20-2009 04:43 PM

I won't be getting a subscription atm, sicne I'm not a big radio fan, but my dealership gave me a year subscription on them, which is active. I haven't used it yet... I dunno, I learned to hate XM radio when I had a job at starbucks all those years ago. That **** was annoying.

dad 03-20-2009 04:50 PM

I had Sirius for 1 year. I found it to be a waste of money.

bluzman 03-20-2009 06:36 PM

50s/60s R&R, opera from the Met, a dedicated blues channel...that's what I'm talkin' about. I signed up.

MrFancyPants 03-20-2009 07:07 PM

I love XM, they have two awesome classic R&B/Disco stations. I will use AK's advice when I want to port over.

My_Tampa_Z 04-21-2009 08:43 PM

Yes, thanks AK, I will be waiting for the call from XM.

m4a1mustang 04-21-2009 09:38 PM

Yes... I called and set up a continuing subscription with the best of Sirius. I like being able to listen to CNBC and such on the way in to work.

frost 04-21-2009 09:39 PM

So now that they are merged, do you get stern on xm?

m4a1mustang 04-21-2009 09:42 PM

I believe you need to add the Best of Sirius to get that stuff. That's what I had to do for CNBC/NASCAR/etc.

Diversion 04-25-2009 05:52 PM

Honestly, this is the first time i've ever listened or used XM satellite (or any Satellite radio) before until I bought my 370Z /w Nav/Touring.

I *really* enjoy it.. it's like having high-quality internet radio in the car.. I used to use my 3g iPhone in my Scion tC via interface cable and I would stream internet radio from it.. negatives there were that the ipod cable wouldn't charge my 3g iPhone and my signal would go flakey and my streaming would stop.

Now the only caveat i'm experiencing with the car's built in Satellite is that it's SOOOOO sensitive.. I can be driving under a FEW trees and the signal goes flat for those moments but luckily syncs back up in 1 second or less.

All in all, i'm leaning towards a year package at the end of my free 3-months... I'll bargain with them and see if they can discount me for a year's worth + nav traffic.

Now if only our systems had built-in HD radio tuners =( How are they going to give us everything else, except HD radio... lolwut?

This may be a little bit of a rant, but why does xm/sirius have DJs? I mean, it's all electronic now, so there is no real need for them. In fact, they bug me, because they interrupt my music.
For a company that's always teetering on the verge of bankruptcy, you would think someone at xm would go, "why do we have all these DJs again?"

Agreed, noticed all the DJ activity as well.. I was expecting 24/7 of nonstop music (especially when you spend hard earned money on a "service")

Atleast there's no advertising (that i've noticed).

frost 04-25-2009 06:00 PM

^ i had sirius for a couple months, mainly for stern, and they had the balls to advertise there. Not sure if they still do, it's been a year or more.

I'm glad someone said it, because I never understood that either. I mean, all that music is on computers. We could literally listen to music nonstop 24/7, but they choose to annoy us with their "DJs."

Yes, they still advertise on the Stern Show. It's not too bad when you consider he will sometimes go over an hour without a single commercial. Not too many other shows on radio or TV that will do that.

Couldn't agree more. They are completely unnecessary on the music channels.

thidr0z 05-28-2009 12:54 PM

I've had my Z for less than a week and all of a sudden it's telling me I don't have NavTraffic. I can still listen to the XM radio though.

Are the subscriptions separate? Does anyone know how to check on your subscription (preferably online)?

SoCal 370Z 05-28-2009 12:58 PM

DJ dribble quickly ended our subscription. :shakes head:

ChrisSlicks 05-28-2009 02:28 PM

If anyone needs codes for additional time I think I have some, I will look tonight.

I had XM bought for me as a gift but I hated it, so I have the left over pre-paid cards.

arcticreaver 05-28-2009 02:46 PM

i canceled my trial period subscription but those guys keep calling me about re-activating the radio, annoying.

frost 05-28-2009 07:56 PM

I'll probably cancel when the time is up unless they go a little cheaper, or throw in the best of sirius for free.

molamann 05-28-2009 08:08 PM

I did enjoy the comedy stations, thought it's not worth the $$$.

 Yes, sir to that! My #1 preset is Hair Nation....then again, my hair is so long I can sit on it! 6 years since my last haircut and going strong. I'll donate it when I finally get tired of it. ;)

Phimosis 05-29-2009 04:38 PM

I have heard the sound quality is better on XM than Sirius. When I started listening the chanel 0, it said call Sirius to start your free subscription, so I did. Do I get a choice? Can I get XM instead? Is the sound quality the same now that they are merging?

ChrisSlicks 05-29-2009 04:53 PM

The sound quality on both suck in my opinion, maybe XM sucks slightly less.

frost 05-29-2009 05:16 PM

This could just be the antenna, but I did notice that when I had sirius in my g35, I lost signal in the phoenix tunnel, and even in my own garage. That isn't an issue with xm.

fly yellow 05-29-2009 06:51 PM

I've had XM since it first came out. I'm somewhat addicted to it now. I subscibed to the NavTraffic, bit I may cancel that. It seems to only update I-95, which I can see from my apartment, so it really isn't necessary.

SvR370z 05-29-2009 07:50 PM

Love Sirius Xm, Cant understand why more people dont have it. Great product Imo.
Same channels no matter where you are and No commercials.
I wish the base 370z came with Sirius Xm. This shouldnt come on just the Touring. Nissan should have put it as an option for all Z cars.
