For those of you who inquired about my boxes, the dimensions are 17" x 3.75 x 10.25.
My experience and some details: 1. I built one first for the driver side to ensure that I did not lose any leg room; thus the dimensions. Satisfied, I built the second one. Note that my brother who is 5'10 required more legroom and he wanted the box out when he test drove the car; what I am saying here is these boxes fit my driving position --- it may not fit yours. So build one first. 2. The speaker is off-centered and sits lower to the floor to allow the woofer to expand without the seat interfering. 3. The TangBand subs appeared to be only one the fit my needs. 4. I used a speaker-box-calculator to determine the volume required. 5. The bass coming from these boxes are more than enough for me. It may not for you --- "music (or bass) is to ear of the beholder!!!! :) 6. I do have Dynaudio components so I am not sure if the Dynos produce some bass that complement the subs. Cheers! dimensions (Height x Width x Depth (top) x Depth (bottom): 12"x17"x4"x5" should look similar to this when finished: http://www.carstereos4u.co.uk/images...Slim%20box.JPG |
Good luck with your build. It is always fun building something from scratch.
Let us know about the dimension. I was going to build it as wedge also but 5" was pushing it for me. 10's would be awesome; would your dimensions be enough to drive the 10's? |

http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/60/39297416.png the sub can easily work well in a small enclosure. i have an elemental designs sq10 in my corolla (under seat sealed enclosure) which is only 4" high and the bass is tight and clean. provides really nice thump with only 200 watts RMS run to it in a .3 cubic foot space |

My spare tire sub
Finally got pics of my fiberglass spare tire sub setup:
The rubber mat is part of my sound deadening effort. http://a5oz2a.blu.livefilestore.com/...002.JPG?psid=1 The sub is ugly, but sounds great. You can see the amp at the far end. The rectangular cut-out (what is that for?) was perfect, with only minor surgery. http://a5oz2a.blu.livefilestore.com/...003.JPG?psid=1 My 1st custom fiberglass... it don't get much uglier. Good thing it's hidden. http://a5oz2a.blu.livefilestore.com/...004.JPG?psid=1 The top styro removed, showing the amp. Plenty of airspace around it, but the top styro holds it firmly in place. http://a5oz2a.blu.livefilestore.com/...005.JPG?psid=1 http://a5oz2a.blu.livefilestore.com/...007.JPG?psid=1 |
